Mustacians Hiring Mustachians
« on: November 27, 2024, 10:34:13 AM »
Hi All!

I have been struggling through my current job for a while now, and starting to actually respond to LinkedIn recruiters.  Worrying over the quality of these unknown jobs got me thinking: Why doesn't the Mustachian community have an active job recruiting thread?  A thread where those of us who work in similar roles in jobs we like/love can bring aboard other Mustachians when a spot opens up?  Maybe this is a terrible idea, and we should all keep our business to ourselves.  But, I figure it doesn't hurt to throw it out there.

So, I'll start!

RESUME SUMMARY

Education:
  -  I've got a BS in Mechanical Engineering Technology and an MS in Technology Education, both from Purdue.
Location:
  -  I live in Indianapolis and have worked remotely for the past 7 years.
Career History:
  -  I've spent the last decade as a Sales Engineer / Account Manager, managing accounts of Industrial, Automotive, and Medical OEMs, as well as many Tier 1 suppliers to those OEMs.  I have hundreds of contacts on both the commercial and technical sides of key customers.  Primarily customers located in and around Indiana, but also some global.
Preferences:
  -  We're happy where we're located but wouldn't be against relocation, depending on the destination.
  -  My previous 2 roles were at large (multi-billion dollar) companies, and I feel those structures fit me better than my current small (under $100M) company.
  -  I'm comfortable with each industry I previously listed, and have no preference whether I stay in Medical, or go back to Industrial or Automotive Account Management.
  -  I'm an INFP on Meyers-Briggs (Mediator) and a strong Green in Insights Discovery.  This shows I excel when dealing with people, and have no problems negotiating tense situations as long as the expectations are structured.  I don't do well with the vagueness of direction from upper management.  Be clear about what you want and I can make it happen.
  -  I have experience building cost models, but I don't enjoy it if it's messy.  Back to the theme of clarity.  I get anxious when dozens of revisions are created by various people, without clear notes as to why changes were made.
  -  Current Total Comp is between $150k-$160k.  I've expressed interest in returning to my previous company at around $140k, and my former boss thinks it's doable.  However, that spot won't open until someone retires in the Spring.  I'd be happy to not have to wait that long.
FIRE Plans:
  -  I have about 12 years left in the corporate world before I plan to move into something more laid-back and service-oriented.  Maybe working in a cafe or restaurant, or my dream job - Flight Attendant (if my wife lets me)

Now your turn!  Do you have an interest in finding a new position?  Are you thrilled with your current company, and have a spot open that other Mustachians could enjoy?  Let us know!

Edited to add "Fire Plans:" Section.  I think it's important that we consider any potential job changes with how they fit into our timeline to FIRE.
