My fiance really wants his wedding ring to be made out of wood, and ideally wants to participate in the making of it, but he has minimal woodworking skills. We bought two nice cutoff blocks of hardwood (one walnut, one redwood) and had a jeweler in South Africa we were going to work with (we were living there at the time), but we moved to the USA before we had time to make it happen. Anyone in CO willing (or know someone willing) to share their skills, tools, and time with us to make this happen? Willing to pay of course.

Maybe check Etsy?

That's not a bad idea Joe! Do you know if Etsy allows you to search for the vendor's location? We'd ideally like to work with someone local - but buying a wooden ring off etsy and not using our block could be a great back-up plan. Thanks!

When we were looking for alternative wedding rings, we checked out wooden rings by Staghead Designs - https://stagheaddesigns.com/collections/wood-rings

They're in UT so you might want to consider them.

A word of warning -- wood rings don't last all that long. I know a couple who used wooden wedding rings; they've been married for around 3 years and just had to get the rings replaced.

Not that you shouldn't still do it if you want to -- just be aware that you may need to do the same down the line.

Thanks Adventine! Those are beautiful! Will explore.

goat_music_generator: Totally understood. We were thinking of making like 5, and having them all blessed on the altar, so if one breaks there's no room for superstition ;) haha. The wooden blocks we bought were like $5 each, so if we are able to make them in a hobbyist's garage as a fun social project, it shouldn't be too big a deal of one or five breaks. We'll just do it again! :)

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
