If I were to have one takeaway bit of advice (not necessarily what the author intended), it would be to stop buying things as mixes or processed, and start thinking about the pantry as something full of basic ingredients you turn over constantly and keep fresh so you can buy in bilk and for cheap. We've also simplified our food stockpile in general, which is helpful.
The only thing that's impossible for us (right now) is living in the PNW without taking advantage of the good coffee and IPA's, maybe we'll get there eventually.
