OK, you and I seem to have a lot of books in common, so here's a few of my recent non-fiction favorites for your consideration:

Behind The Beautiful Forevers, Katherine Boo
The Warmth of Other Suns, Isabelle Wilkerson
The Rational Optimist, Matt Ridley

Walden on Wheels by Ken Ilgunas was very engaging and very Mustachean.

you have a couple on the list I enjoyed.

I'm currently enjoying "You Are Not So Smart" - the book is basically a print version of the website, and much of the same content is covered on podcasts.  Not exactly an audiobook, but its free http://youarenotsosmart.com/

Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance by Robert Persig.

If you never read another book again- make time to read it.

I would highly recommend this book as well, probably one of the better books I have read.

Here's a few non-fiction suggestions:

Confessions of an Economic Hit Man - John Perkins
Learning to Fly - Steph Davis
Walk Across America - Peter Jenkins

BTW, I just had a bialy for the first time last month.  It was awesome!  I made it into a little mini-pizza, which horrified my east coast friend, but it was plenty tasty :)

I second Beyond the Beautiful Forevers.

In no particular order:
Apples are from Kazakhstan
Anything by Oliver Sacks, though you've probably read him already.
Phantoms in the Brain by V. S. Ramachandran (the neuroscience of phantom limbs and other weird stuff)
The Sleepwalkers by Arthur Koestler (interesting look at the evolution of our modern understanding of the universe and physics, going back to the Greeks but with particular focus on Copernicus, Kepler, and Galileo)
Unnatural Selection: Choosing Boys over Girls and the Consequences of a World Full of Men (about sex-selective abortion trends)
Since you mention A. J. Jacob's book, you might like his other one, The Year of Living Biblically
Unequal Childhoods: Class, Race, and Family Life by Annette Lareau

ps. Did you like The Shallows?  It's on my list.
Update: Nevermind.  You wouldn't have put it on a list of books to guide others' suggestions if you didn't like it.
