Magnatiles or other brand?
« on: December 24, 2016, 01:30:06 PM »
Are Magnatiles worth the cost over other similar brands like Playmags and Stick n Stack? My kid is only 1.5, but I wanted to add the best option to my Amazon cart and wait for a great deal. Save for next b-day or Christmas. Thanks!

Magnatiles sure are expensive to buy, but my kids have consistently played with them for multiple years. On a per-hour basis, they're one of the cheapest toys we have.

We have added another Magnatiles branded expansion set.

Sorry I can't help with the exact question you have, but I can vouch for the Magnatiles being a good product and one with "legs".

I bought Picasso tiles instead and they've been great. All three kids ages 2-10 play with them practically daily. Quality is fantastic,  and they're cheaper than magna tiles.

I heard Magformers are way better (from a former toy store owner), but I have no basis for comparison.  Got them at a great price on Amazon--deal of the day or lightning deal.  Don't remember which any more.  Managed to get another set for a decent price by stacking discounts at the local big box.  You've got time, so just keep your eyes on available deals.

Edit: Specifed magformers.  Not sure if they're a different brand or not.

We have Magformers.  They kids love playing with them.  And the adults love playing with them as well!

Thanks for the feedback!  I realize it's a bit materialistic to be thinking ahead like this, but I wanted to wait for the perfect deal in the next 1-2 years and have an idea of which to spring for when that hits.

we went with the Playmags. From what I gather back in the day magtiles had better magnets than other brands but we can't tell a difference. The Playmags have trucks the kids can build the tiles on and that was pretty popular.

slickdeals is extremely underutilized in this forum.  make slickdeals alerts for things like this and you can get the top product for much much lower prices.  this works for everything you want to buy that isnt needed immediately and things you can plan for like household goods.  i got a 65in Top rated TV for 80 dollars earlier this year.  spend money smartly you'll come out farther ahead than just cutting things out.
