Help me fight the baby industrial complex!!!
« on: October 30, 2016, 01:48:36 PM »
My wife and I have a one and a half year old daughter and twins on the way. When we revealed we were having twins, everyone around us really stepped up their generosity. We've gotten a ton of lightly used baby gear including a pair (!!!!!) of really nice cribs. Woo hoo!!
Unfortunately both cribs are missing the front (or back, I can't tell the difference) legs. DOH!!!
Manufacturers of baby gear being the cabal of black hearted thieves that they are, tend to discontinue each model of their products every year or two, and are then legally not allowed to  give you any replacement parts (for "safety reasons").
This was one of the rare problems that my good friend Google didn't have an answer to, so I turn to the infinite wisdom of the MMM forums for a way to get these parts (or an equally frugal solution).
The specific black-hearted thieves that make these cribs are Delta and the model of crib is Soho. I will gladly post model numbers and lot numbers for them if you will find it helpful.
Thanks to everyone in advance for their replies.

Could you just remove all the legs and put the cribs flat on the floor?

I haven't yet looked up the model, but could you use all 4 "front" legs on one crib and get same-height replacement furniture legs at Habitat for Humanity? Or find legs the same height and use them all for the hidden back of the cribs?

Makes a lot of sense to me.

Just watch you don't stub your toes on the bottom everytime now :)

I would probably spring the $20 for replacement legs to avoid bending down that far all the time with 2 babies. You'll avoid a lot of cursing at 2 am as you try to lower a tiny baby ALL THE WAY onto their mattress without waking them.

This was my first thought. But then it would be easy to build a base to raise the height of the crib to a more reasonable level. You could even then call it 'custom made'!
