Cute name for library visits?
« on: October 24, 2015, 09:22:34 AM »
My kids love their routines.  For example, we have FRIDAY NEW MOVIE NIGHT AND POPCORN! on Friday evenings.  (Yes, it is said in capital letters.)  I'm starting to take them to the library on Saturday mornings - they love it(We get new books every week?!?!? :D).

Now I just a catchy name for the Saturday morning library trip.

Any ideas?

How about a play on an author? Like "Suess and stuff Saturday" or "Silverstein Saturday". Or something like "Rad reading retreat"

Biblioteca Sabato (Italian for Library Saturday)
Bibliotek Lortag (Danish)
Bibliothek Samstag (German)
Choose any language that you like the sound of.

or:

Library-A-Go-Go.  You will probably want to go-go dance whenever you say this word and when you're on your way out of the house for the Library-A-Go-Go outing.  Just saying, sometimes the hips just have to move!

Our library trips are THE BEST DAY EVERRRRR! because several years ago, my then-6-year-old wrote a note that said, "TODAY IS THE BEST DAY EVERRRR!" When I asked what made the day so great, he said it was because we were going to the library.

I find that quite awesome!

That is completely adorable.  Aren't kids awesome?

Haha, thanks. He's 10 now, so I'm not supposed to tease him about things like that... ;)

I think I'm going to let G pick from the following:

Library-a-go-go
Biblioteca Sabato
LIBRARY SATURDAY!
SATURDAY NEW BOOK DAY AND PANCAKES!

I think the last one may be the winner...but then I've committed to making pancakes every Saturday.  Oh well, I love my vanilla pancakes.

+1 vote for SATURDAY NEW BOOK DAY AND PANCAKES! Even the grownups in our house would be excited about that!

I don't have any names coming in my head now but I really like this concept of naming days. That's really cute.

It wasn't my idea really.  My son started it.  We started a Friday night tradition for my sanity - and he would get excited about it every week.  I just ended up naming it what he screamed when I asked what day it was when I was picking him up on Friday. :)

We also have the same thing for weekdays and months. Makes it easy for kids to learn the correct names (and order) when you have names like Tiger Tuesday. Maybe you could expand to teach them read the clock, too.

Ha! At our house it's Taco Tuesday, although we eat tacos on any day that ends in "y". We may, in fact, have them for dinner tonight, even though we had them on Monday. I have a crockpot of black beans going today and batch cooked the meat on Monday. Easy-peasy!
