Hello!
I pinged MMM on Twitter - if he'd like to attend a meet-up whilst he's in Ottawa, I'd be happy to host.
Would anyone else in the Ottawa area be interested in attending?
(obviously this would depend on MMM's schedule and/or desire to attend a meet-up)

However, I'm sure MMM had a great holiday break, and likely enjoyed visiting friends and family instead of socializing with random-but-interesting strangers.

Woah. I didn't login to the forums for a bit, and missed that last post.
The answer, Roofusdog55, is that there's definitely a bike, and sometimes random strangers do stop by.
I'd tell you the more interesting details, but then I'd have to....dispose of you.

I'm going to be in Ottawa June 13. Would anyone like to get together in the afternoon, say 1:00?
We could meet at a cafe or park or maybe someone who lives in Ottawa is willing to host?
We could be real Mustachians and get together for some sort of work party or project?

I'm in. Whatever date is fine with me. We should do something for when MMM is in the area. There was a fantastic meetup in Ottawa 2 or 3 years ago. It was held at someones house, pot-luck style. MMM and Mrs MM were there, Frugal Toque and about 70 people showed up.
Mr. Cannot Wait, let me know if you want to go for coffee on June 13, I'm sure others would join us.

@Fodder: I could host an afternoon potluck gathering or BBQ if there is a strong demand for that. My preference is to go for coffee since I am going to Chicago the next morning.

I missed this series of posts - I think the title threw me off, seeing as it seemed to be about winter. How did the coffee meet-up go? I assume conversation between mustacians flowed nicely!
My wife and I are in the Altavista/Elmvale area of town, very close to some nice parks. Our home is frugal, but we would love to meet new like-minded people. If there is interest, we are happy to host a BBQ afternoon in mid-July (maybe 18th or 19th)! We have a nice little deck and a small garden - should be plenty of stuff growing in the next few weeks, and we could also make this a put-luck style gathering. If there is a lot of interest we can move the crowd to Linda Lane Park and perhaps organize a friendly bare-foot soccer match or the like.
Although I am happy to host, I also welcome any alternate bike-friendly locations which might be more convenient for folks! (Strathcona park? Mooney's Bay?)
If there is interest here, I propose to start a new thread - one titled Ottawa summer meet-up.

The Mustachian conversation didn't stop flowing for a second last Saturday. It was great! Really enjoyed meeting everyone.
Thank you for offering to host; I'd be keen.
I think some of us are hoping that MMM himself will announce when he is free to socialize as he is supposed to be in Ottawa this summer.

Hey William - we are in that area of town too. We might even be neighbors(!). It's a pretty ideal location for mustachians: close to downtown, great bus route, great cycling paths, (not very) insane house prices. Cheers!

Hey fellow mustaches! I would also be into a meetup this summer. I was just getting into mustachianism the last time MMM had a meetup in Ottawa, so I missed that one. Now I'm a full blown mustache and enjoying a mini-retirement at the moment. Would love to meet some like-minded people in our area.

Does anyone know how long do these things typically last? I'm hoping to drop by after I put the kids to sleep at 7-7:30. From the Meetups page it sounds like MMM is planning to be there for a while, but who knows what "late" could mean?

Oh, and for those I met last summer - I pulled the plug in February! I was planning on being done by my 50th birthday in September - but couldn't wait (see profile name 😉). Absolutely thrilled with how how things are working out and couldn't be happier!
