Hello, mustachians from Virginia and surroundings...
I'm perfectly willing to help organize -- or take the lead in organizing -- a meetup in Virginia. In fact, revise that. I AM organizing a meetup in Virginia. First step is to choose a place and a date. So I'm throwing it out there now, so I can get a feel for what would work better for you all. What town would you prefer to have a meetup at? And would it work better for you to schedule it on a weekend in May, June or July? (No, I'm not going to string it out past the Summer. We can always do another meetup in the Fall.)
Update: It's now 3 or 4 days since I originally posted the above. The post has had ONLY 22 views and not a single reply. At first, I thought that something in the text/tone of my post was putting people off. But the measly 22 views tell me that people are not even interested enough to check the post out. Are you, reading the post now, really not interested at all in meeting fellow mustachians in a fun setting and exchanging ideas, questions, etc.? Sort of like an in-person and greatly enhanced Forum experience? If not, well, that's how it goes. I'll give it a couple of more days, but it does not look good.

I have family ties in parts of Virginia, so I might. ven consider coming.

I'd be game for a meetup depending on when/ where. I'm in Fredericksburg, basically right between DC and Richmond. I think the lack of responses maybe is that no one really wants to drive, or at least not very far. Ideally, I'd prefer the meetup to be in fredericksburg... :P but I'd be willing to travel a little.

I'm in DC. I'd be interested in a meetup, as long as it is in the DC area (particularly bikeable from DC). It looks though like I am going to be headed to Africa in a few weeks and be there for at least a month...

why not establish it as a genuine meetup.com group if this forum lacks reponses? Oh yeah, I know, b/c meetup costs $180/year. I already run 2 other meetup groups, so I cannot commit to another.

You could join the Mustachian Google Group. Someone scheduled a meetup in DC (near NOVA) just a few weeks ago.

I just did a Choose FI - Richmond group meetup and they are pretty similar to mustachians….It's a facebook group vs like here. It was fun! If anyone is in the Richmond area, I'd enjoy meeting some other mustachians, although I'm more fat FIRE than lean FIRE. We moved from Chicago area last September.

Little dated thread, but let's get the party started. I'm offering to host a cookout in Charlottesville, I have a grill and will buy meat and beer, anyone else in for some grilling and FI and thrifty discussions? I'm thinking next weekend or weekend after, but open to weeknights if others are close enough to make that work.
