Title: SF meet up April
Post by: kisserofsinners on March 25, 2013, 12:35:47 PM
Ok after much review of the various needs and wants a decision has been made!

A bar for after work drinks and art focused street crawl to follow. I realize the irony of hosting a frugal living event at a place that charges for drinks and food. :) I'll be doing my best to organizing something on a weekend that's free for next month. ...or based on current output, a couple few months from now. :) All suggestions are happily considered. Please note: Not tipping your barkeep doesn't count as frugal. Please, tip responsibly.

For now, i found a local bar with a happy hour that goes till 7pm!!! Cheap drinks and snacks.
Elephant and Castle SF (http://www.gotime.com/sf/places/90665-Elephant-Castle-Financial-District-San-Francisco)

I hear their food is actually really crappy. Plan accordingly.
Yelp Reviews (http://www.yelp.com/search?find_desc=Elephant+%26+Castle&find_loc=San+Francisco%2C+CA&ns=1)

Please wear comfortable shoes!!! I'd like to do a walking tour after to check out this:
Hidden Treasures Art Crawl (http://sf.funcheap.com/hidden-treasures-jackson-square-art-crawl-sf/)

Date: Monday, April 8th, 2013
Time: 4-7pm happy hour-$6 house wines; $5 well drinks; $1 off draft beers. Art crawl to follow till ???
Where: Elephant and Castle Pub
Why: Meet local mustacians and discuss/brain storm best practices for frugal living
What should i bring: Comfortable shoes, easy to eat dinner, a jacket
Extra: Art Crawl

Let me know if you have any questions.
I hope to see you then!!!

Any idea of the parking situation in the neighborhood (i.e. where is the closest free parking?)
I have a job that starts in the city at 7pm, so I'll have my truck with me

Aw, I was excited for a minute that SF stood for Santa Fe, NM!  Ah well.  Have fun!

As convenient as it is, the zoning PDF uses the area near where we're meeting in. :) http://www.sfmta.com/cms/pnews/documents/20120828SFMTAPoliciesforOn-StreetParkingManagement.pdf (http://www.sfmta.com/cms/pnews/documents/20120828SFMTAPoliciesforOn-StreetParkingManagement.pdf)

Otherwise, generally i try to go away from the people. Remember turning a corner might take you off the main drag and that's where the meters are. So away from Market street and the businesses and China town and toward the residential areas a few blocks North and West, you may have to go as far as the other side of Broadway and Columbus for really free. As is the meters have mostly extended their action till 9pm.

Super fun. I liked meeting and talking numbers. With everything going on with the house I will not have time to organize another one for ...Until the papers are signed. :) I guess around July/Aug.

Hey SF group, new to the forum and looking forward to a meet up.  I am in the San Carlos area if anyone is around and wants to meet up.  Can get to downtown as well if that is easier.  Thanks

Hi! I am in SF and would love to meet up with others on this forum. Hate to admit my long commute here but I work in San Carlos so peninsula works too.
