I can make the 2nd but the 3rd or 4th would be even better for me.

Thursday on the 4th plz plz

LOL. How about May the fourth (be with you)?
Always imbibe on Thursday because nobody will notice how little work you do on Friday. A rule to live by for us working stiffs.

I'll be in Seattle for a bit starting next week, but have weekends booked (darn all those friends who have, like, jobs on the weekdays!).
So you're saying we're not at the top of your list?!?

I can do May 1 or May 2, but not May 3 or 4. Isn't planning by internet forum fun?

I added a poll to see what night works best for people.

You can select multiple days.  I'll remove it next week, or when I remember (feel free to PM me if it's still up after the event).

Brand new to the forum, but hoping to get in on this meetup.  I'm just South of Chucks. Looking forward to this!

I'm new to the forum as well- I'd be happy to meet with people in the area at a later date even if the meetup doesn't happy Thursday.

I'm relatively new to the forum and live just south of Chucks too!  Hopefully we'll get a chance to meet and discover we're neighbors. :)

It looks like May 4 is winning by ever-so-slight a margin. In the interest of locking down a date so that people can make plans for next week, I suggest we commit to 5/4.

Things I'd like to discuss:
- cheap ways to get bikes to Europe
- cheap travel tricks
- good venues for Seattle-area meetups. Chuck's has a lot going for it, but can be tough to get good seating on busy evenings.

Bikes to Europe is super straightforward (hint: it involves our neighbor to the north). Not sure if I can make the 4th, but if I don't, pm me and we'll talk European bike tour tips.

Agreed that Chuck's on a Thursday would be rough.  Better off with a bigger and generally less crowed space like Peddler or Populuxe.

Another great option not far from Chucks is Flying Bike Cooperative Brewery on 85th and Greenwood.  They have plenty of space and you can bring your own food or order from next door as well.

I've never been to these places. But my two cents: Whatever place allows us to wander a little to make it easier to connect and meet people would be my preference. Sitting down at tables isn't bad but given the likely size of the turnout I don't think this is ideal. I haven't met any of you and would like to meet as many of you as possible! :)

Chuck's used to be your run-of-the-mill sketchy convenience store. They saw great success once they decided to sell mostly beer (including draft beer) and allow people to drink it there.

The run-of-the-mill sketchy convenience store 20 blocks south at 65th and 8th is trying to pull the exact same maneuver. They remodeled a bit and installed kegs and tables. I went there once a couple months ago. The beer list was a bit smaller than at Chuck's, but there was still plenty of good stuff on there and it was much less crowded. Perhaps worth a try?

Agreed. We are getting so close now, can we make the 4th the official meetup date?

No permission is needed; all that needs to happen is for someone to pick a date/time and say so.  :)

I'm not sure if we'll make it on the 4th, but I'll try!

Let's do Thursday May 4 at 6pm.
It seems like we have enough responders that Chucks will be a hard venue to make work. There are a number of other locations that could also work. I suggest that we meet at The Bergschrund because they have a side room with tables that we could probably mostly take over.

The Bersgschrund is at:
4818 17th Ave NW, Seattle, WA 98107

Here's a google link to make things easier.
https://goo.gl/maps/bj8BTGK67Ew

The Bergschrund is the taproom for the NW Peaks Brewing. I like it because they have maps in the tables, and lots of books and stuff on the walls to make me want to get out into the mountains. And the guys who run it have been very good at supporting local bike events, so I like to steer business their way.

It was great to meet a lot of you last night.

I'm looking forward to the next meet up at Gas Works Park. It's supposed the be the Thursday (25th) right before Memorial Day Weekend, correct?

Seriously.  Last time Mon-Wed worked, but everyone picked Thurs.  We'll be back in town Memorial Day weekend (for Camp Mustache and a wedding), but can't make the Thursday day before CM Gasworks meetup.  :P

Maybe after Memorial Day or something? The Gasworks tends to be fun for those that haven't met Pete yet though, but less intimate than most, I imagine.

Arebelspy, can you confirm what dates CM is, and what would be a good date relative to that for those passing through the night before to have a meetup?

CM is Memorial Day weekend.  Next Fri - the following Monday.

There's always an MMM meetup in Gasworks park the night before (next Thursday night).

The previous ones all were organized (what little organization it took) based on someone knowing the schedule of people passing through en route to CM. Sounds like we now have that. I'll post something separate in this thread and also to the WA facebook group for Thursday at 6:30.

Pre Camp Mustache Meetup time![/size]

Thursday May 25 at 5:30pm at Gasworks Park!

Meet on the grass at the end of the pavement just south of the picnic shelters and east of the big equipment. For those that have been there before, this is the same place we've historically met for the pre-CM meetup.

Look for a big crowd of people with bikes and possibly some beverages (please be discreet and aware of park rules).

This link should take you from the parking lot to where we will be gathering!

Yeah! I think I will actually get to attend this meetup this Thursday as well, continuing the tradition.

I'll be getting to Seattle that afternoon, riding up from Portland with Brandon Cronan and his lady Taylor, for those of you that know them.

Does anyone live nearby and have a spare couch or something I could crash on? I'll be traveling alone, so as you can see this trip is running in last-minute planning mode :-)

Revised to 5:30. I'd done 6:30 as that was kind of the default local meetup time as of late.
