Full disclosure - I'm originally from the Maritimes. Meeting new people, dropping by because the porch light was on, showing up at someones house because there was an "out of state car" in the driveway, general shenigans and silliness, random kitchen parties, card games and feats of strength - this is all part of Maritime culture.
Sometimes I think that people in Ottawa are a little shy about meeting up. I understand. Maritimers can be a bit overwhelming. The husband is mostly from Ottawa (with a Saskatchwan interlude).
My first week here in Ottawa (true facts) - I invited a new co-worker over for tea, and by the look on their face - you'd think I'd asked them to participate in some strange "lifestyle". For pete's sake...It is tea, and conversation!
So.... Retired@63 or Prospector, shoot me a PM the next time either of you are going to be in Ottawa. You may be invited for either, tea, lupper, or supper depending on time of day.
