It's a closed Facebook page dedicated for all in the Southeastern U.S. Several members are from Tampa / Orlando area and there have been some active posts / dialogues / meet-ups organized.
I'd love to see about a Tampa meet-up in the near-future.

Hey folks. Moving from Chicago to Sarasota this week! Would love to meet up with some of the Tampa area folk.
I've been to a few Early Retirement Extreme meetups in Illinois and once I'm settled, would love to host a FIRE meet up in the future.

Early lunch on either day works for me... Brass Tap on Mills? I've never been, but location seems pretty good. Is it easy to get a table?

The Brass Tap at Mills and Nebraska I just threw out there for a start. It is convenient for a large variety of beer and a few appetizers. Lots of outdoor seating for when the weather is nice.

It does seem like there are a bunch in Central FL... yet I don't believe a meetup has occurred yet :)
CFL'ers how about we lock down 11:30 AM on 1/21 at the Brass Tap on Mills? If we don't get more than 3 positive responses on here by 1/18, we can nix it :)

Looks like there is a lot of interest, but this weekend may not work out for many, so I'll just throw out the weekend of February 18/19 for round 2?
Open to any other dates/times as well.
I will say that I've tried to participate in other "financial" meetup groups, and have not found the "right" fit. Folks are either looking to sell you something while others are just there to make a quick buck. Hopefully this will lead to a good base of local folks that can help inspire/commiserate :)

It's awesome that people are starting to get together for meetups in Florida... I just wish there were some people over on the space coast Brevard County area getting together.

Indeed, it didn't get widely promoted as it pretty much sold out from the notification on the Southeastern Mustachians Facebook page. You should be able to search for and find that group (private, just request access) for future potential notifications (it's generally pretty quiet activity wise).
It was pretty well attended and hopefully they do it again next year! It was held over 4 days in Gainesville and had about 40 people attended in total.

Local restaurants. Hmmm. There's Beefy King, but it isn't really setup for groups of more than say, 4. And 7 Bites is DELICIOUS but the line is always stupid long. I'm cool with your reco.

The third Sunday of April is Easter, so that might put a damper on a potential meetup (although I'm free :)). We mentioned maybe doing it on a Saturday, to potentially hit different availabilities? Was thinking maybe Pom Pom's on Bumby? They have good sandwiches and are locally owned. There's also Jason's Deli on Colonial Marketplace. Not local, but not bad.
