We've all learnt a lot on this website/forum. I was thinking it might be a fun idea to start a non-profit group and create a simple course to teach what we've learnt to the low income/disadvantaged/teenagers etc. The focus would be on how to determine your potential retirement needs and current situation/savings rate so people can then hopefully make smarter decisions/trade offs about how they spend their money. It wont focus on investing or frugality (at least not a lot).

I welcome any ideas and suggestions. Does something like this already exist?

Cheers.

There's an organization called The New Road Map Foundation, and info can be found at financialintegrity.org

IDK what they actually do, what programs they run.  But mustachian principles really mimic those of the new road map foundation, started by the authors of Your Money or Your Life.

There are also broader global organizations- New Economy Network, New Economics Institute (these may have merged to one organization.)

They may be a good place to start and get ideas on how you can proceed/get involved.

In FI/RE, (t-minus 14 years give or take?)  I would love to act in some capacity to teach people this stuff.

Interesting sites, thanks. Both however suffer from the usual problems finance info website (MMM excluded of course), they're all doom and gloom, boring, not fun. Can you imagine giving info in this format to teenagers?

Im thinking something a bit more simple and less serious.

that would be super cool!  there are a few things out there already geared toward kids.  one site i was looking at today uses comic book and super hero content.  let me know if you are still thinking along the lines of starting something!
