Hawaii Holiday meet-up
« on: November 27, 2012, 11:30:11 AM »
Hi All,

Since MMM and family are coming to Hawaii, and there's a lot of us Hawaii fans out here, I thought I'd set up a topic to plan a Mustachian get-together.  We appreciate the challenge of living Mustachian in Hawaii, so we should band together and make MMM proud!

I live in Kailua (Windward Cove, in the condos behind the Hamakua Safeway and where Don Quijote was, near Down to Earth).  I'd be happy to host a small get-together on my lanai, though if the group gets big, a Kailua house might be more comfortable.  We're open anytime during the holiday season, while MMM/Family are here.  We could do a Saturday night - Dec 15, 22, 29, or Jan 5, 12.

Post here about what works for you! Looking forward to meeting all my fellow Mustachians out here!

Hi there - thanks for starting this and offering up your place!

MMM just arrived in Kailua yesterday afternoon.  Jr MM and I arrive on Dec 13 and we'll be there until Jan 13.

The lanai idea sounds great with adults and those with kids could maybe do a beach/park day another time.  I think MMM was hoping to meet some of you before the little one and I arrive, as it's easier for him to talk and get to know people that way.  I'll let him know about this thread.

Right on, JString! I'm about a block away from you!

I have saved all the email addresses of O'ahuans who wrote in after that blog post (about 20+, plus the additional people you see in the comments section!).. so I will try to organize a big event in mid-December (maybe a potluck at the Beach Park as suggested)

In the mean time, if anyone wants to get in touch informally, you can send me direct email by putting three 'm's in sequence @ mrmoneymustache.com, and my cell # is 578 - 6378 preceded by three zero three (text messages work too).

(digits and email addresses obscured just because automatic spam programs comb the internet for forums like this)

I am totally unscheduled for these first two weeks - just hanging out in the house doing some construction and listening to music. Gracious hosts are providing me with food, so I have no need to leave the premises except when walking down to the beach for sunrise/sunset/moonrise ;-)

I'm "all the way over" in Mililani, and any of those dates are good for Ohana Nords.  Let me know what I should bring.

If you're not working, then this is prime time to work on a water sport-- like surfing!

I've never surfed Kailua (the only surf spot I know in that area is Pyramid Rock on the Marine base) but let me know if you want a loaner longboard.

Hi there,
Another Kailua family here (husband, 2 boys, me) looking forward to an Oahu meet-up.  We moved to Kailua in August and live in the Aikahi Park part.  We are up for a pot-luck on the lanai or at the beach park.

Downtown Honolulu here.  Sounds like I'm the young one of the group (26 y.o., no kids, and money stubble if you will), but I'm definitely up for a nice drive over the Pali to meet you all! Keep us posted!

Bummer that I missed this meetup!  I am posting here in the hopes that other folks from Hawaii will get notified that I posted in this thread and will want to meet up =) I am on Oahu on the East Side of the island.
