Hey all! Throwing this out there for anyone in Cincinnati to chat and gauge interest in a meet up.
Anyone in the Queen City?
-
In the greater queen city area and I think that would be great! Not sure how many of us there are.

Yeah there hasn't been a Cinci thread on here yet, so I'm curious as to how many are around here. Nice to meet you!
-
Cool, I thought I was the only Cincinnatian on here! I wonder if there are even more...
-
I'm in Indianapolis but Cincinnati is a very reasonable drive. I'd be willing to make the trip!

Anyone in the Queen City?
I know I'd be down for a meetup. I think that would be pretty neat to meet the MMMMs (Mid-western MMMs)
Park meetup? Drinks?
-
Fellow Queen City mustachian here. East side. I would be down for a meet up.
-
I'm interested. Prefer parks, not pubs.
-
I'd love to have a meetup in one of the parks or pubs!
Out of curiosity, where do you other Cincinnatians live? I'm pretty close to Downtown/OTR on Prospect Hill.
-
Loveland
-
Loveland
Nice area. I grew up in Loveland/Milford area.
Live in Anderson now.
-
As the name suggests...
I'm on the east side. I don't frequent the site much anymore as most of the helpful articles were in Mr. Mo's first 2 years. I'll check back to see if anyone is interested in a meetup.
-
Looks like there are a couple/few on the east side. Not sure anyone checks in much anymore though.
-
Representing the Westside, I would consider a meeting.
-
I am also Cincinnati - If I can get time away from the kids and fam I would be interested in meetup. From the burbs of West Chester.
-
Another Cincinnatian here, originally from the west side, currently in Mt. Adams. Would hardly say I qualify as mustachian currently, but working on it.
-
Looks like there quiet a few people from Cincy. I'm actually in NKY but I think it still counts. I'll follow this post to see if you guys decide on a meet up.
-
i am in live in the burbs of Cincy in Ohio and am down for it
-
I live in Miamisburg, south of Dayton. Fairly close!
-
I don't live in Cincy but am there somewhat frequently for work and would be interested in a meet up.
-
Perhaps we can plan something for in the spring time. I am subscribing to this thread in case we get enough folks that are down for it.
-
I'm in Cincinnati and interested for a meet-up.
-
Did the meetup happen? I am interested..

Nope. Don't think there is enough people and interest.

Fairfield Township here.

HELLO CINCINNATI!
I just moved here from NYC and need to find some fellow Mustachians.
I'm going to be in Ault Park at 1pm, next Saturday July 29th. Email or text me if you can join: djmerriam@gmail.com or 732-319-2846
Here are a few reasons why you should be in Ault Park next week:
1. I'm going to bring a big batch of the best chocolate chip cookies you will ever eat. This is not an exaggeration, they are the best. However, if you don't like them, I will be devastated.
2. I do stand up comedy and if 10 people show up, I will perform for you.
3. I will be presenting a program with Cincinnati Library called Resourcefulness 101: How to use frugality to find more financial freedom. I would love your feedback on my content as I know my frugality muscles aren't as impressive as some of yours.
Sounds like fun, right? See you soon!
-
That sounds great and I'd be interested in a meetup with other Cincinnati mustachians, but mid-day on the weekend is prime work time for me. Currently I'm working a renovation project on a rental house in the area.
When is your presentation? I'd be interested in to see what you're presenting. Maybe you could post it here on the forums?
-
I have since moved just north of Dayton, but I could make a trip around Cincy area assuming I'm free.
-
I recently created a Cincinnati area Mustachians Facebook page if anyone wants to join. I'd love to have some conversation with fellow Mustachians. Ya can't talk to just anyone about this stuff ya know.
-
Name or URL for Facebook Group? Nothing I search seems to come up with a result.
I couldn't find it either.
-
I just made a group:
MMM MR Money Mustache, FIRE Financial Independence, ERE Cincinnati, OH
https://www.facebook.com/groups/CinciFI/
FYI for anyone south of Cincinnati, I created a Facebook group for Lexington a while back, but not much in the way of members so far.
Update from later posts:
I've added radtek2112 as admin now. If anyone else wants added as an admin let one of us know.
I've tried to optimize the title and description to make it easier for people searching these terms to find. If anyone else has any suggestions it would be great to share them.
Also I've gone through and deleted duplicate/ extra messages I posted in this thread that were not needed. Keeping this thread a little shorter will make it easier to use.
-
Here's the link to the FB group I made a couple weeks ago. Someone try it please. If you can't get to it, then I'll need to look at the privacy settings or something. I'm not really familiar with creating groups on FB.

I guess we should join forces with the FB group. I can close mine and be an admin on yours. I'll have to insist that the group use this picture of president Howard Taft as our cover image. Not only does he have a badass mustache, but he was also a Cincinnatian!
-
Not sure how much interest it will generate. Seems strange that there are not more mustachians in Cincy and surrounding areas. I'll join the FB group, but yeah I don't do Facebook much these days.
-
Okay, that works.
You can do anything with cover photo's etc. It doesn't matter which we use, but a little more keyword optimization is really needed if going for yours. (The one I made, may be a little over the top, and can be reformatted if needed. I tried to fit in every word or acronym I could)
Perfect. I'll close mine. No use having two of the same groups. You can actually add in a few search words in the groups so it doesn't have to be in the title of the group, but they only allow a few. Add me as an admin to your group when you get a chance and we can work on it.
-
If yours is still open I'll just close this one. You have members I don't . All members in mine is either in yours, or people I know.
I'm not sure if additional key words in the title help or not. Seems Facebook heavily slants search results by current group size.
Ha! Just closed mine. The only members I had was me and my wife. Keep yours.
-
If your from Cincinnati, on Facebook, and a Mustachian....Join this group. Tell your Mustachian friends about it too!

I hope you guys will post on here if you are planning to get together. I don't do Facebook so I won't be able to attend otherwise.

Yes any meetups should get posted to both. If the person posting the meetup doesn't post to both, someone else can copy the details over to the other.
Facebook will likely make a better place for chats and random discussions, but it also may allow some people to get meetup notifications if they don't check this site frequently. Of course finding out about a meetup in a timely manner is essential to going to one. (I've missed everything so far, due to not knowing about them.) I finally updated my Email here to one I actually use and have it set to send me an Email notification any time someone responds to this thread.

Let's get the meeting ball rolling. I'll propose something and see what you all think. I know we're all Mustachians and generally avoid restaurants and such, but I was thinking Eli's BBQ (link below) would be a good Mustachian hangout. It's a fairly central location, Cheap food, you can bring your own drinks, and voted best BBQ in Ohio. They have great sides like beans, mac, JALAPENO CORNBREAD for the herbivores. They have outdoor seating which is heated even if cool. I'm thinking mid October? I should be free Sat. Oct. 14. Perhaps in the afternoon or early evening to get seating easily. There you go....that's my plan. Who's in? Other ideas? Feel free to shoot mine down if you have something more "mustachian" :)

radtek2112,
That sounds pretty good, though maybe I could propose an early lunch instead (~11)? On Saturday mornings there is a cruise in just down the road at Fuel Coffee that I usually attend. This would save me a trip and lunch is usually less expensive than dinner!

I'm fine with that. I think if we can get a few more people on board, we should pull the trigger! Anyone???
-
It might be hard for me to meet up in person. For one I'm north of Dayton, and my weekends are going to be super busy for the foreseeable future. I've eaten at that Eli's before though (last year after running a trail race), and it was super delicious! I know I'll be in the Cincy area the weekend before Halloween because I'm doing an ultramarathon that weekend. I'm not sure what else I might have going on that weekend yet though, so I wouldn't recommend changing the plan on account of me.

I would be interested if this ends up happening.
-
I think I'm going to postpone the Eli's meetup until sometime in November. I'll see if we can get more interest between now and then (plus, I have family in that weekend and will probably be busy). SO...What dates are the best for everyone. We can still do the Eli's BBQ thing. I think that will work out nicely. Even if it's cool, they have a sheltered, heated area. I'd be ecstatic if we could get 6 or more people on board!
-
Any weekend works for me as long as it isn't Thanksgiving.
-
I would be willing to meet up if i can make it. I live in Monroe.

Cincinnati Area Mustachian Meetup:
11:00 AM, November 4, 2017 at Eli's BBQ
3313 Riverside Dr, Cincinnati, OH 45226
www.elisbarbeque.com (http://www.elisbarbeque.com) Voted BEST BBQ IN OHIO!!!
I'll have a couple Mustache table decorations out to distinguish the group.
Bring a drink if you like. They tend to let people bring in beer, wine if that's your thing. I'll probably bring some homebrew!
Please join some like-minded, badass Mustachians at the first ever (that I know of) meeting of the Cincinnati area Mustachians.
We follow the teachings of Mr. Money Mustache to face-punch the average, work-until-I'm-dead mindset that practically everyone you know has. It's hard to talk to normal people about our "crazy" lifestyle, so join some new friends for sharing of ideas, swap stories, or just learn more about how other people are kicking ass in their life!
My name is Mike. Feel free to text or call me. 513-501-0426. I'm on Facebook to message. MIKE BUSKEN.

I'm in the Columbus area, but I would be down for this. I'll keep an eye on this as it's gets closer. Sounds fun.
* wanted to add that I don't have a fb account either, so I'll watch this for updates.
-
I'll be watching this thread and will make it if possible. I have a newborn at home and so my ability to make this seems to change on a daily basis. (First month has rotated from getting 1 hr sleep over 3 days, to that accomplished "can do anything," sort of feeling. Also I'm coming from Lexington. Bringing a ride share or finding another reason , would greatly add to my trip.)
Thanks for rescheduling this. No way I could have made the last one.

Just wondering if this meetup happened, and if any future ones are planned. Long-time mustachian reader, first-time forum user. Would enjoy meeting other like-minded individuals in the Cincinnati area.

Anyone here interested in camping and/or hiking?
I'm hoping to put together a small meet-up at Red River Gorge / Natural Bridge later this summer or early fall. It's about 2 hours from Cinci, but well worth the drive in my opinion. (Especially if meeting other mustacians.)

Red River Gorge is beautiful!

Red River Gorge is beautiful!
It sure is. The whole place is a wonder of remaining trees and nature, but specifically "Natural Bridge" is pretty awesome for anyone that has never seen it.

Update:
https://forum.mrmoneymustache.com/meetups-and-social-events/a-cheap-event-camping-hiking-at-red-river-gorge-kentucky-or-elsewhere/
We have tentatively scheduled camping / hiking for the weekend of 9/22. For anyone interested, please PM me or reply to the thread above. Let us know if you can make it, and/or if there are any issues with this date!
-
I stood up there (Natural Bridge) last fall the day before I did a trail half marathon there! Absolutely gorgeous place!
-
Anybody in Cincinnati still alive and thrifty? I have just moved back from NYC for the next little while, but the Cincy meetup threads are all very sleepy.
-
Yeah this thread is pretty sporadic. Would be nice if we could round up more folks.
@startbyservingothers Did you all ever do the RRG hike? I go down there every year usually a couple of times. Planning a couple solo trips this summer as well.
I need to follow to see any responses.
-
Hello stachey people! Anybody alive out there and comfortable meeting up with people in person again? Could be fun, cheap, and easy to do a picnic potluck or a hike later this month!

I am always up for a day trip to hike somewhere. Looking forward to these cicadas disappearing. Geesh!
What part of Cincy you in? I'm on the east side.
-
Montgomery. Not too many cicadas here - definitely less bad than the last Brood X year.

I think it depends on the area. My brother-in-law lives out in California Kentucky and he said there are none out there. There are thousands in my yard alone.
-
Down for whatever. Nature, bars, hike?

Hello fellows
I hope some of you will consider driving up to the north side of town next spring to come to Camp Mustache MW (https://forum.mrmoneymustache.com/camp-mustache-events/camp-mustache-midwest-cm*mw-cincinnati-oh-422-4242022)! Hit us up over in that thread or PM me if you have any questions!
