Hi,

It would be nice to meet some fellow mustachians. Did anyone from Chicago go to the meet up that happened this summer? I was not able to. I live on the western suburbs be Geneva, Il. If anyone is out this way or the city is great to meet at too. Let me know. Thinking second weekend in December if people are free.

We're pretty close. I'm in South Elgin. I would definitely be interested in doing a meetup. Take the metra 5 days/wk downtown, so downtown or western burbs will work for me.

I would meet too... Northwest suburbs best, but flexible on the location. How about somewhere in Shaumburg/Woodfield? If not, downtown would be fine too. It is an easy train ride.

FYI - I've been reading for about 12 months. But first time posting.

How are there so few Mustachians in Chicago???

I'm down to meet anywhere within public transit range. I'd also be happy to host - we could do a potluck at my apartment in Lincoln Park.

Long-time reader, first-time poster...

I live in the Edgewater area and work in the Loop. I'd love to join a meet up to get to know some fellow Mustachians. A friend in Omaha has a group that meets regularly and it seems to go well.

Let's get a chicago meeting set up soon! I'm dying to meet other mustachians! Below are some proposed dates and times to get the ball rolling. Please pick out some times that work best for you. I think a downtown location would probably be the most central location.

Live in Indianapolis here, but I wouldn't mind getting up to Chicago to meet some folks. Feb 15 would work better for me.

There are a few down here, but I think most of us posted one time in the "Indianapolis Meetup" thread and forgot about it.

Great! Any suggestions on where we should meet up? I like the potluck idea- much more mustachian, intimate and fun than spending money at a bar/restaurant/coffee shop.

Yeah, I'm definitely still up for a potluck at my place if that's what people want to do. I am about a 20-minute train ride north of the Loop. I'll need to check with my roommate but I'm sure it'll be fine.

The only thing is that I have plans around 6 pm that day, so we'd need to meet in the early afternoon. Thoughts?

Alright, April 12th it is. I'd propose we switch to a location in the city center, though, as getting to Lakeview for us far out people often requires a CTA ride to the center, then out again up North. Very time consuming!

Hey!

Dropping out of lurker status to say I'd absolutely be interested in attending. And that I'd second that vote on pulling that location closer into the Loop/West Loop in order to ease transit options. I do love Lakeview though!

I also second that query as to why there are so few of us here. VHCOLA + high taxes + questionable city services?

Awesome, it looks like we have a good group of people that are interested!

We can definitely meet near Union and Ogilvie stations by the loop since it'll be easier for travel. Around 3 or 4pm still sounds like a good time for everyone. We've got 2 weeks, so I'll look for a good place around there. Any suggestions for a good restaurant or cafe?

@eamadelyn This is my first thread posting too. I've been a reader for a while, but whenever I talk about finances/frugality with friends nobody seems to be on the same wavelenth. I'm looking forward to meeting some fellow mustachians to conspire with!

I have a shower up in Evanston earlier in the day, but I'll try and catch the Metra down depending when it's over. I wonder if it's easiest to meet in Ogilvie. IIRC, there's a food court there, so there'll be tables and chairs.

Time: 4PM
Location: Food court in Ogilvie Transportation Center - by the Cinnabon. If you can't find it, follow your nose! After thinking about reservations at various restaurants, I just decided to follow Philbert's advice. There's always tables open and nobody will hassle us. It's right next to Union station and the Loop. If the group decides, we can migrate to New Line Tavern later for food/drinks.

Time to get a head count. I'll definitely be there. jprince7827, Luck12, Philbert, crazy jane, eagmadelyn, ketchup, mlipps, kwasibor, and anyone else that is interested, post if you are a definite yes/no/maybe.

I might have to forego this because apparently a couple who we are friends with are having a birthday party. For their dog. In Geneva, IL. We tried to get out of it originally with an excuse but they moved the date just for us. They hired two party planners for this dog party, and rented out a place there that does just this.

Yes, they are mind-numbingly anti-mustachian(we'll be traveling there in his leased out Honda Accord 2014), but they moved the date for us and I'm going to see if I can just convince my girlfriend to go while I come there.
