I just moved to Georgetown for an internship and will be living there the next 4 months. I don't know anyone in the area, so I thought it might be nice to start by getting to know some Mustachians who could show me around! I will be cycling from Georgetown to wherever we meet, so somewhere north of downtown Lexington would be preferable :) I'd gladly make the trip further south if necessary though

Ah, so you've moved in and found a place, that's awesome.  I don't know much about the area myself as I've only recently moved here as well.  However, most weekends I usually go with a friend to the Red River Gorge for climbing, and the trails are pretty awesome as well if your more into hiking.  I also usually play board games with a friend from work during the week if your into that.  I'd also be up for checking most other things out if you have other ideas.  Either way, we should definitely meet up sometime.

I'm usually pretty busy on weekends, but I'd be down for some board games. I'll PM you my contact info. I was also thinking of trying to find a decent open mic night, or some other free and relaxing music-type place.

Any room in this wolf pack for another wolf?

I'm new to the forum and have been living down here in Lexington for about 6 months now. It would be great to meet up with other folks who are living the mustachian dream.

Ya, certainly, the wolf pack can always grow by one more.  I've actually left for christmas vacation back home and won't be back until after New Year's, and I'm not completely sure about Russ, but I think his internship may be over at this point.  Either way though, I'd certainly be up for meeting up with ya sometime after I'm back.  What brought ya down there?

Sorry man, I got totally out of touch there... been super busy at work as you know. I'll be done this Friday. Thanks for being cool to the former new guy in town. I'll let you know if I'm ever around again.

And congrats on getting hella time off. I'm sure you're enjoying it.

Ha, no worries, one of us will have a stealth van someday and find the other.

Ya, saved up all vacation time for this, although technically I guess I was supposed to only get half since I started in May but the boss never noticed.  Score!

Holy cow that is some pretty epic amount of vacation time! I moved down here because i got hired at a fire department in the area. My wife & I love Lexington so far, it's great being close to so many things.

Update:

For any Lexington Folks that use Facebook, I've created a group there for those of us in the Lexington, KY area:

I'm in the UK now, and I think spider1204 is in Asia or Greece or something for the foreseeable future. There have to be a few new people by now though; good luck!!

I'm in Lexington. There are also a handful in Louisville. Louisville had a meet up a week or two ago that I was hoping to attend, but it didn't work out.

I thought this thread could use a bump.  Also, I've set this thread to Notify me if there are any new responses.  - I'll try to logon here more often.

With spring time almost here: Anything from hiking, to playing some board games, to just chatting about the MMM lifestyle in Kentucky sounds enjoyable to me.  Are there still a few Lexington area folks around?

Update:

For any Lexington Folks that use Facebook, I've created a group there called "Early Retirement, Extreme Saving, and Simple Living (ERE MMM) Lexington, KY"  I apologize if that name isn't perfect.  Facebook provides a limited amount of space, and I fit the keywords as I am able.  (The MMM philosophy is pretty diverse and wide-ranging.  Describing that in a group title is a challenge for me at least.)

I'll try to keep any meetup data both here and Facebook. (Not everyone has Facebook.)  I'd appreciate the assistance of anyone else that would like to help out with that.

Have you marked the thread to notify you of responses?  Alternatively if you sent me contact information such as an Email address (Or text if you prefer.), I could let you know if a meetup happens.  Make sure to clarify that you are interested in a Lexington Meetup,  as I've been trying to plan a camping or hiking meetup possibly sometime sooner.

If interested in camping or hiking check out this thread linked below.  Red River Gorge is about an hour from Lexington.

I sent you a PM "start by serving others" with my email.

I'll look into setting up a group on the "meetup" website.  It is another way to draw people in that may not already be familiar with MMM methods.  Also, hiking/camping sounds great.  However, I have a little one now (7 months old) and don't have as much time.  Setting up a casual get together somewhere in Lexington would be more sustainable, I think.

Figured I would chime in. We just had a huge bike gathering in Bardstown, Ky last week! I admit that I only drove through Lexington but the area, and surrounding area was beautiful and the folks there were great. The Bourbon trail and distilleries make for some great tours. We broke up into groups and I only toured the Maker's Mark distillery but it was very educational and entertaining. I liked the camping link and wish I would have read that prior to my trip out there. Just figure I would share my experience for any other out of towners, looking forward to being out that way again.

Thanks ematicic!  Exciting to hear about other groups getting together.  I'm hoping we can get a good group together in lexington on a somewhat regular basis!

Hello.  I am hoping to have another meetup in Lexington soon.  In the meantime I'm finalizing plans on the Red River Gorge Camping and/or Hiking meetup next month.   Anyone else interested in going, please send me a message or check out the following thread.

FYI:  Camping is not required for this meetup.  For those in Lexington or other nearby places you might want to stop by for a chat or a hike.

For Sure.

As far as local meetups go, I've also been keeping an eye on:  https://www.facebook.com/groups/ChooseFILexingtonKY/?fref=nf

Not specifically MMM, but it looks like the majority of the people are MMM fans to some degree.

So ChooseFi has finally gotten another meetup planned.  Currently scheduled for NOV 1 7 PM at Good Foods Co-op Community Room.  ChooseFI is so much along the same lines as MMM I don't feel the need to try the differentiate the two.  Needless to to say, all those interested in MMM should expect to feel welcome.
