We'll be dragging the kids along with us on this one as it's in the school holiday break.  Dunno if they'd be into Elvis, youngest is a big fan of Slash and his guitar efforts at the moment.

I saw the note in mspym's journal and I'm on again. Hopefully this time it will go ahead.

I'm now thinking about coming..I would plan to spend 2 nights...But which 2 would give me the best chance of any meetup that might be on?

Anyone know their arrival/departure plans yet?

This year, the Australian National Sheep and Wool Show is on in Bendigo again. 15th - 17th July.

The largest such show on earth.

Let's see if I can get the ping right. It appears that
@lazycow , @LonerMatt, @middo and @Rob_S
didn't get the ping. Hopefully they will this time!

gt, mspym, fresh bread, malee55 and happy have all expressed interest.

I could possibly come up for a day meetup, but couldn't stay the weekend. I'm following the thread :)

I got the ping.  I'll be in central Australia or Townsville then, so will be a no show.

I'm aiming to be there for the whole show so any day to catch up is good for me. I will travel up on Thursday and return on Sunday.

It’s now less than a month away, and I’m eagerly anticipating our meetup!

It appears to me that we could meet in the sheep show, say, on Saturday at about 11am (maybe where the dog trials are held, as that’s normally not crowded), and then have lunch together (so we can get lunch in the food court before it gets too busy with lunch and we can find somewhere we can all sit).

OR

We could meet for dinner somewhere on Friday night or Saturday. We’d need to book as Bendigo is pretty crowded during the sheep show.

OR

We could do the mustashian thing and meet at a park with bbqs and have our own dinner all rugged up in the freezing cold. There are several bbq locations, including Lake Weeroona and Kennington reservoir (which has an interesting tribute to Sandakan).

Or some combination of the above. Or even something different. What would everyone like to do?

I will be arriving Fri afternoon and leaving Sunday? around lunchtime. I am on board with any of the above.
I only have a passing interest in the actual show : I'm more interested in socialising with some forum friends. If what is decided doesn't suit someone, I'm more than happy to have more than one meetup, if that makes sense.

I'm the same as Happy, I am wanting to meet people I know only on the forum. I'm a wuss so I would prefer not to be out in the winter weather, but I am fine to go along with what most people want to do. I am coming up to Bendigo on Thursday and returning to Melbourne on Monday, so any day is okay.

I’ve booked a table at Borchelli for 4 on Friday 15th July at dinner time. I’m happy to include anyone who wants to come along, so please advise, so I can change the numbers if necessary.

And

We’ll meet up (as above) at the sheep dog trials on Saturday morning at 11am.

Hope that suits everyone!

This way, we can meet twice.

Sorry you can’t come, @mspym !

Hope to see you there @happy , @Malee55 , @lazycow , @GT , @LonerMatt , @fresh Bread and anyone I’ve accidentally missed!

I would like to join the dinner on Friday night. Would it please be okay to add an extra as my sister is coming to Bendigo with me. I like the idea of 2 catch ups.

I'll be travelling back from the Mallee that day so it will either be perfect to stop off or I'll need to get home ASAP - not quite sure yet.

We're out.  Sorry.  Too many bills (who delays doing their taxes and then owes Capital Gains from selling a house?) and not enough cheap Air BnB.
