I thought I saw someone on the forums from Valpo. We're from just a bit north of Indy.
-
I'm a Greenwood man myself. Just south of Indy.
-
I'm in Michigan - not too far and I love a good road trip.
-
I know I'm super late to this party, but just wanted to represent IN. I live a few miles west of Indy. Would definitely be up for a meet up if there's enough interest!
-
I am also super late to the party. But I live in Indianapolis now. Would definitely be interested in meeting some Indiana folks.
Also, I wonder who is from Valop in this group. I grew up in Valpo.
-
currently live in westfield
b
-
Fishers here. :)
-
Milwaukee WI!
But I could go for a road trip if this happens (and someone will host me)
-
We're in Noblesville and would love to meet-up
-
Super late to the party, but i'm a few hours south in Evansville, IN.
-
I live in Bloomington.
(I've said it on the forum before but then freaked out that someone might find me and kidnap my kids or something weird like that and then deleted those posts. My husband convinced me last night that if someone on the internet wants to find you, they will regardless and that I should be more comfortable with admitting who I am. So...I'm going out on a limb here. :))
-
I live in Louisville, KY so practically in Indiana. I spent the first half of my life in Indiana so I am familiar with Bloomington and Indianapolis.

I don't get over to Indy or Louisville very often, but if you are ever around b-town for any reason, let me know and we'll do something fun. :)
-
Carmel, IN here :)
-
South Bend, IN.
-
Columbus, IN here so I am an hour from anyone in Louisville, Bloomington or Indianapolis! Hope to meet some fellow mustachians soon!

We are in louisville, Ky also!
-
Right outside Columbus.
-
I'm in little ol' Crawfordsville, but get to Indy as needed.
-
Another from Carmel.
-
I am in Indianapolis!
-
Welcome! What are you doing for fun in Naptown these days?
-
Super late to the party, but i'm a few hours south in Evansville, IN.
Also super late, also in Evansville! Any others in town?
My wife and I haven't met any other Mustachians yet, and we'd be excited to do so.
-
Greenwood IN here - just moved in :)
It took many pages to find an IN thread on here... I'm guessing no one met up since the last post?
-
Welcome!
Nope, I never got a reply to that last post.
We were able to make it to a Chicago meetup in May though; it was a great time! So if you're willing to make a drive you can keep an eye on that thread.
-
I'm also in Greenwood, though I hesitate to call myself a Mustachian yet. I need to prove it to myself first, and I'm only just beginning!
-
It's my life-long dream to move to Indiana. Does that count?
-

Well, that's a dream that's easily achievable. Lots of great jobs, very reasonable CoL, what's holding you back? Where are you now?

FIRE from Fishers. 32. My wife stopped working when we had our baby and I quit my full-time gig in August. Would be interested in helping host an Indy Meetup for those who are also FIRE or pre-FIRE. Let me know! Cheers!

I'm in Michigan, but my parents live in Goshen...

Hey Topp,
I'm also 32, and live on the SW side. Far from FIRE, but we'll get there!
That's awesome that your wife is able to stay home with your child. We have a (almost) 2 year old, but my wife still works too.
I'd be interested in a meet up! Feel free to PM if you want to set something up.
-
Make sure to post here!
-
Bloomington
-
My Bestie lives in Valpo (I don't think she is on the forums though)
But cool to know there are mustachians close by, another reason to plan a visit :)
-
Make sure to post here!
Mickey,
We're both in Greenwood. We should definitely meet up. Maybe do lunch? What kind of business are you in? Maybe I can expense it :).
-
Scrolling back up a bit, I see a few Greenwoodians, and a few who seem fine with driving 30 mins or so to meet up. Since Greenwood actually looks semi-central, we could meet somewhere not far from the highway, I imagine. Something like Oaken Barrel maybe or a coffee shop? (I've never actually been there... I'm new to IN).

I've been to Oaken Barrel a few times with coworkers. It's nice.
The prices at any brewery are not very Mustachian, but I could happily justify having a beer or two.
I can typically do any week day around 5:30, with a few days notice to get clearance from the wife.
-
Wow, I didn't realize there were so many Greenwood-ites here. I've lived in Greenwood all my life. Let me know if you want to get together!

Great!
As I said previously, any weekday 5:30 I could meet up. Though we'll have to plan on January.
So, who is interested in Oaken Barrel at 5:30 or so on a random weekday in mid January?
-
I'm in. Any preference on the date?
-
I'm in. Any preference on the date?
Monday January 16th at 5:30 at Oaken Barrel.
Anyone interested, PM me your name and phone and I'll coordinate.
-
Hey, I'm an editor with Dow Jones MarketWatch who is from Indiana and will be visiting my mother in the Lafayette area the week of March 13. Would love to meet up with you in Lafayette or the northern end of the Indy area. Any takers?
-
I'm in. Any preference on the date?
Monday January 16th at 5:30 at Oaken Barrel.

Bump since this is coming up soon. Everything still on?

Yep, it's on my calendar.
I've only heard from you and one other person (Sparafusile), so it's currently 3 of us.
More are welcome, of course!
-
I live near Evansville (Posey County). Would love to meet some folks.
-
Hey, I live in Broad Ripple in Indy. I'll be there on Monday night!
-
I live near Evansville (Posey County). Would love to meet some folks.
Jim,
If you're in Indy next Monday, we'll be Oaken Barrel!
So far, there are 4 of us. Mickey, Sparafusile, Chillaximus, and I.
-
I just joined the forums and I am in Seymour. I won't be able to make it up to Indy this time but hopefully for the next one.
-
Although I've been reading MMM for years, I just joined the forums and stumbled on this meet-up. I live near Greenwood and plan to be at Oaken Barrel Monday night if the meet-up is still on. Excited to meet other MMM followers!
-
Hi Diva, I also just joined for the first time so I could attend the meet-up this evening. Looking forward to seeing everyone tonight!
-
Hi Diva, I also just joined for the first time so I could attend the meet-up this evening. Looking forward to seeing everyone tonight!
Yes, we are on for tonight!
Diva mentioned that there are two areas within Oaken Barrel, the main bar, then a side bar area off to the right as you enter. I'll get there around 5:15 and try to get us a spot in the side bar, since she said it's a little more private.
Those of you attending have my #, so feel free to text or call when you arrive so we can identify each other!
-
We had a great meet up at Oaken Barrel last night!
Thank you to Chili-P, Dollar Diva, & Mickey for making it. We'll definitely have another in the near future. Hopefully Spara can make it next time.
About a next meet up, I would be up for going somewhere in Fountain Square, or Downtown, for a more central location. Perhaps Tappers, the arcade/bar? Please offer up any suggestions!
-
Definitely enjoyed meeting everyone! I've heard that St. Joseph Brewery & Public House is also a cool venue. Hope to make it to the next one, with even more folks there!
-
I also had a good time! Let's plan something again in early Spring?
-
Hour north of Indy.

I was thinking March. How about March 6th?
Definitely enjoyed meeting everyone! I've heard that St. Joseph Brewery & Public House is also a cool venue. Hope to make it to the next one, with even more folks there!
I like the sound of that. I hope we can get a couple of extra people to show up next time too!
Now we have a date and a venue. Let me know if another day works better for anyone, but this is fine for me.
-
March 6th at St. Joseph Brewery & Public House works well for me! Maybe we make it 6:30 this time since it's in downtown Indy? I know traffic can be a real bear from about 4:30-6:00 and some folks will have a little more travel time than our last meetup.
-
I could do 3-6 as well. Looking forward to the details.
-
I'm fairly new here and live in the Lafayette area. Would love to talk strategy over a beverage. :) non alcoholic drink for me though.
-
I just saw the post about Greenwood meetup and missed it dang! Lots of people in Bloomington, Columbus and Seymour here... maybe do a meetup in Columbus or Bloomington sometime?
-

I could go for a Columbus or Bloomington meetup at some point. Let's plan on this March 6th at St. Joes Brewery in Indy. Then we can do one of the others in... late April?
-
Vindicated-->I'm a little belated in thanking you for organizing our last meet-up so---THANK YOU!
I'll see you (and hopefully lots of others) on March 6th at 6:30 pm, St. Joseph's! It's a great central location with wonderful ambience. (Good call Chillaximus Prime)
-

In a couple months Nashville would be nice. It would be neat to meet a few mustachians.

Franklin might be good compromise. Nashville would be a bit far for me. Of course you're welcome to make the drive to downtown on March 6th, but I know that's a long trek if you're coming from Nashville.
If one of you in that area put together a Saturday or Sunday cookout type thing, I'd be interested in making the drive then!

I have 4 acres and a brick pizza oven. Always itching for a reason to fire it up.

I'm up for that! Just pick the date, Al!
-
Posting because our next meet up is coming up soon!
Monday, March 6th, 6:30pm @ St. Joseph's Brewery!
Anyone that's been there, do we need a reservation? I wouldn't think so, but if we get a good sized group, the hosts might appreciate it.
-
Vindicated, I see a bit of a snag, St. Joseph's is closed on Mondays. How about moving a few blocks down to either 9 Irish Brothers or the Rathkeller?
-

Good catch! I wasn't aware of that.
I'm good with 9 Irish Brothers or Rathskeller. You pick which one you'd prefer, and that'll be the new location!
Still 6:30pm next Monday the 6th.
-
My husband and I will try to make it on Monday.
-
Wow time flies... I will be there!
-
I'm going to make the executive decision to make this location the Rathskeller, since St. Joes is closed Monday.
If you didn't attend last time and/or don't have my phone number, PM me your number and I'll text you so you have mine.
-
I look forward to seeing you all at the Rathskeller Monday!
-
Updated to say we won't be making it because our babysitter fell through due to it being a school night. Perhaps another time. Enjoy!
-
Bummer, Pianomom!
How old are the kids? Rathskeller is family friendly. They might learn something :)
-
Bummed I missed this one. How did it go? Looking forward to the next! Thx!
-
Another successful MMM gathering!
Thanks to MickeyMustache, Dollardiva, Chillaximus Prime, and the two new additions who don't have forum accounts yet!
There was some discussion of a next meeting. I believe Chillaximus will post details.
-
Bummed I missed this one. How did it go? Looking forward to the next! Thx!
It was a good time, our first meeting had 4 attendees, last night's had 6, and the next will hopefully have more!
Also, that Hotwurst plate was amazing...

Absolutely. Great suggestion Diva!
Mickey, I just now realized there is an "o" in your name. Found a forum avatar for you...

Glad to report back on another successful meetup of the Indiana Council of Moustache! A wide-ranging assortment of libations, conversational topics, & Hotwurst were enjoyed by all. Our next meetup is planned for Thursday, April 6th at the New Day Craft Cider & Meadery, at the intersection of Prospect & Shelby street on the southeast side of Indy. Full details of the meetup can be found below. Looking forward to seeing our now-regulars again, as well as plenty of new faces!
Date:
Thursday, April 6th
Time:
6:30PM EST
Location:
New Day Craft Cider & Meadery
1102 Prospect St.
Indianapolis, IN 46203
I believe our very own Dollar Diva made the excellent suggestion that we come up with a few topics of discussion prior to this next meetup so folks could ponder & have their thoughts in order when we arrive for our next soiree. So I'll now leave that question open to the thread. What are some topics that've been bouncing around inside your hat-rack that you'd now like to bounce off of our attendees next month? In the spirit of gamesmanship, I'll go first with the suggestion of bike-sharing & making Indianapolis even more bike friendly. Let's hear yours in the thread below!
See you next month folks!

Sounds great!
I believe I have a topic that ties in nicely to yours. I have been considering living locations for bike/walk-ability for a few months now. Therefore, I approve of your suggestion, and would like to expand it to include "Which locations in the greater Indianapolis area provide the best Mustachian lifestyle options?"
-
Well I made an account thanks to Chili-P. It was good to meet y'all at the last meetup and I'll see you at New Day.
The main topic I have is travel.
I'm finishing my graduate programs (MBA and MS in Geology) in December and am trying to figure out what I want to do next. I love the West and miss living near national parks and mountains but all my friends have moved to Cincinnati. So trying to decide if people + travel is better than just being a few minutes away from the places I want to hike. If I can cheaply get West when I want then the COL in Cincinnati might make it worthwhile.
-
Sounds good, I will most likely be there... I just realized I have to go to Chicago for work Sunday-Tuesday so we'll see if the wife is maintaining sanity with the kids well enough to handle another night.

Glad you joined up!
About your living location, opinions are opinions and all that, but I'll share my thoughts.
I live ~10 minutes from my parent's*, and it's so amazing to have them available for baby sitting, or dinners, or whatever other family gathering. They watch my Son at least once a week, and sometimes over nights. Many of my best friends are in Indy, or ~1 hour away. I couldn't imagine going somewhere else**.
One of my best friends has lived in Chicago for the last 7 years, but his parents are in Indiana. He now has two little daughters, and he is moving back to Indiana to be closer to friends and family, and he is enthusiastic about making the move closer to what he considers "home".
* Of course, some people are happiest away from their parents, and that's OK too.
** If you're passionate about trails and hiking, Brown County & Turkey Run aren't far. Eagle Creek State Park is close and nice.

It was nice to meet you Monday night Cheaphiker! My .02 cents is that it doesn't have to be one or the other. I think it mostly depends on where you are in your life-cycle. For Vindicated, it makes sense for he and his wife to be close to family so they can take advantage of childcare, holidays, etc. But if you aren't married with kids, why not spend a few years living in amazing places (not saying this area isn't great, but I, too, love the West), maybe waiting to meet someone special or having kids, before moving back to be close to friends and family.
Our neighbors took this approach and loved their carefree, after college, Chicago days, but once child #2 joined the pack, moved back here to a cheaper COL and lots of family support (childcare, home improvement projects, dog care while traveling). Bonus, our neighbor now telecommutes to his "old" job in Chicago, which makes the move that much less painful. He still has to travel up there occasionally, but it really isn't that big a deal because they have family close by to help out on those weeks. It has become increasingly easier to move to lower COL areas and maintain existing jobs.
Quality of life is something that just can't be cheaply purchased, so decide what matters most to you right now and build your plan around that. If year-around hiking is important, move to where that is a reality-->if your priorities change, you can always move again.
-
Hi all! I had found you all on the day of the March meetup so I couldn't attend. I am out of town next week as well but I look forward to making a meet-up hopefully in May or June!

I look forward to meeting you both during a June-ish meet up then!

I look forward to seeing everyone on Thursday! Hopefully we'll get a good crowd!
If you are coming and don't have my phone number, PM me with your number and I'll text you so we can reach each other.

Looking forward to seeing everyone on Thursday!
Thought I'd share this gem in case you missed it: http://www.indystar.com/story/entertainment/2017/04/04/broke-ass-guide-indy/99778456/
-
Looking forward to it folks! See you all tomorrow!
-
I'll be there Thursday, Mead and Money is a good combination.
-
So this is kind of embarrassing, but I keep forgetting to check this thread for updates. But as happenstance would have it, I was actually on a date at that very Meadery around that time last Thursday! So it was nice to almost meet you all. I'm glad to have been there in person if not in spirit. Hopefully I'll be both in town and aware of the next get-together.

Hey Spara!
I'll try to remember to shoot you a text next time since I have your number now.
There was some talk of another meet up in May, but I don't remember if a date or location was decided.
-
Great Meet-up at New Day Craft! As always, I learned new things and had a list of things to read by the end of our meet-up.
Our next Meet-up is scheduled for 6 pm, Thursday, May 11th at Oaken Barrel in Greenwood. This (by not so wild coincidence) is also $5 Growler refill night, so if you love micro brewed beer, bring a Growler to take advantage.
We'd love to have an even larger group of knowledge, so if you live close to Indy, consider making the drive, you'll come away smarter I promise!
We're also taking suggested discussion items, so if you have a particular topic you'd like to learn more about or share your personal badassery on, post it here and we'll add it to the list.
Cheers!
-
I missed this one but I'm going to come to the next one hopefully!
-
I'm in for this Thursday! I'll have to remember my growler!
-
I'm in for Thursday as well!
-
Good chance I'll make it there as well :)

Unfortunately, my Wife is traveling for work Thursday evening, so I'll have my 2yo. I'll likely be available in June though, so let me know if you guys discuss another meet up for next month.
-
Great meet up everyone! It was so cool to have dinner with like minded people!
Looking forward to the next one
-
Hey Indiana friends!
Was there any discussion of a next meet-up? If not, any suggestions for where we'll go next?
-
I don't remember us falling on a final date or location, but I may be wrong. I'm in Iowa for the next two weeks, so I won't be able to make the meeting this month. Looking forward to seeing you all again in July though!
-
Fellow Hoosier, PTF so I can possibly get in on future meet ups.
-
We had discussed Thursday, June 22 as the next date and having it down in Franklin by request of Dollar Diva and some of the other more southern folks.
Does that work for people?
-
That would be fine with me, although I wouldn't have any suggestions of a location. I'll trust Diva to make that choice for us. She has pretty good taste!
-
Sounds good to me, I should be able to make that one.
-
We had talked about going to The Willard in Franklin:
http://thewillard.com/
99 N. Main St., Franklin, IN 46131
-
OK. So, this Thursday at The Willard? I could be there as early as 5:30p.
-
Sounds good - let's shoot for 6 in case other people need a little extra time.
Everybody - The Willard in Franklin at 6pm this Thursday (6/22). See you all there!
-
Good afternoon, all!
During our last meet up there was some discussion of the next date & location. I'm posting here to share it with others who weren't able to attend at the Willard.
The next MeetUp will be on Tuesday, July 25th @ 6pm. Location: St. Joseph's Brewery, downtown Indy.
I hope everyone can make it!
-
Second month in a row I'll be out of town. Maybe I'll catch y'all in August!
-
Same here, I'm going to be out of town for work again! I'll definitely try to catch the August meetup. I need my frugal fix!
-
Just a reminder, our next MeetUp will be on Tuesday, July 25th @ 6pm. Location: St. Joseph's Brewery, downtown Indy.
Some possible topics include:
Your personal badassery this month.
What does FIRE look like for you?
Are you on the right path to FIRE (visual aid will be provided)?
We welcome new folks! If you are in the area, come join us!
-
There's too much going on this week for me with travel and what not, catch you guys and girls at the next one!
-
I've actually got to back out of this one as well. I really like the talking points Diva posted though! I hope some others can make it.
I'm up for picking a date in mid-August. How about the week of August 14th?
-
I'm in Evansville and would be thrilled to meet the others who are!
-
Hey LP, my wife and I are in Evansville and would be happy to meet up!
We're about to head out of town on vacation, but we'd be available the weekend of August 19th if that works for you.
We're on the west side, what part of town are you in?
-
Hey SirManatee that would be awesome! I'm working on turning my girlfriend mustachian and she is doing well!
August 19th should be totally fine with us! If you shoot me a message, I can email you and we can go from there. I'm on the East side about two miles from the mall!
-
I am in Greenfield on the east side and interested in future meet-ups.
-
Hey all, sorry Chilly P and I missed the August meetup, I spent most of August living up to my username and climbing various mountains.
Did y'all set a date for September? Sept. 18-20 would be great for the two of us.
-
I would love a September meet up. Currently any date between the 18th and the 20th work for me!
-
What's say we aim for Wednesday, the 20th at 6:30PM EST? We could try St. Joseph's Brewery downtown. Address is below:
St. Joseph's Brewery & Public House
540 N College Ave,
Indianapolis, IN 46204
Does this sound good for folks driving in? If not, what're some other suggestions?
-
Works for me! Looking forward to meeting you all.
-
I actually had a meeting pop up on the 20th out of state, so I can't make that. This new job is keeping me overly busy.
Go ahead without me this time.
Does anyone want to try to get lunch on a weekend day? That might be better for me than evenings these days.
-
Are we still on for tonight at St. Josephs at 630pm EST? I can make it, and would be happy to discuss my past year as FIRE. Looking forward to meeting everyone. Is the reservation under anyone's name in particular?
Thx!
Ryan
-
Yep, Chillaximus Prime and I will be there, not sure there's a reservation.
-
I hope you guys had a good meet up. Too bad I wasn't able to join, but I'm hopeful that I will be able to next time!
How'd it go?
-
It was great! There were four of us...got to hear about toppdealer's path to FIRE and other good conversation.

It's been a while since we all had a chance to meet up, any one interested in a meet up in December? We can talk about how we're not spending crazy for the holidays... :)
-
I'm in! Would love to discuss how to maximize happiness while avoiding the consumer madness of the holiday season.
Meetup ideas...
any brewery
BYO lunch and hike a state park or city trail
conference rooms at Butler campus with lots of whiteboards (free visitor parking)

Hi, Guys!
I've been a busy lately, so I've not been keeping up with the forums at all.
Let's meet up ASAP! It's been too long.
How about Dec 18th at 5:30 pm at Oaken Barrel?
-
Sure!
-
Any chance we can do Thursday the 21st instead? My daughter started girl scouts and they have their meetings on Monday nights... I think others stated in the past Thursdays worked well.
-
21st is good for me!
5:30pm at Oaken Barrel!
-
It's in my work calendar... which makes it official!

Hi Indiana mustachians! I've lurked in the forum long enough, and was super excited to see others in IN! We live in the South Bend area, but do travel to Indianapolis and Chicago from time to time. We are looking for new friends as we are finally putting down roots after several years of adventuring. Love to hear of any new meet ups!
-
I think it's probably time for another meet-up--who's game?
-
I'm in! Time & place?
-
I am also in Indiana! I would love to meet up.... I need to build a network of people who "get it" more, haha. Sounds like you all had some amazing events before! I'm in northern Indiana, but happy to travel! Perhaps late June?
-
Trying again... anyone in for September or October?
-
DH and I are in! We're in the Indy area.
-
I'm ready for another one. Let's look at October. Thursdays seemed to work well in the past. Let's start with these Oct. 4, 11, 18 and 25. Which ones are doable for you?

18th works for me!

I'm just a Hoosier Wannabe, but I'll be in Indy to take my son for a campus visit to IUPUI on October 11. If the stars align, I'd love to join up.
-
Thursdays do not work for me until after the first week of November. I might be able to make it to the end of the meetup if it goes past 9:30pm. If it doesn't work out, I'll catch the next one.
-
OK, so we currently have Oct. 18 on the table...
Bearded Lady--does another night of the week work better? Would you like to throw out some options?

I started a Facebook group for Bloomington/Southern Indiana residents who are pursuing FIRE. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1189476158090998/
We have an online discussion event on September 9, 2020 https://www.facebook.com/events/309193530162126/

Hey Indiana Team,
I has been a while since anyone posted, so if there is a better spot, let me know.
I FIREd and am in Indiana (Indianapolis), but never got around to checking out the meetups, oops.
Looks like there use to be activity, but it died down, anyone still interested?
Loren
Edit PS - even if we don't want to be meeting up now with Covid and masks going back into effect in some areas, we can start figuring out what kinds of things would be of interest and maybe get some brain storming going for the future.

Hello Indianans
I hope some of you will consider crossing the border next spring to come to Camp Mustache MW (https://forum.mrmoneymustache.com/camp-mustache-events/camp-mustache-midwest-cm*mw-cincinnati-oh-422-4242022) just north of Cincinnati! Hit us up over in that thread or PM me if you have any questions!
-
I've started getting active with my financial tracking again this year. Thought I'd check back in here and see if any of you are still around these dusty old forums.
I'm still in the Indianapolis area.
I hope everyone is doing great!
-
I'm here.

I'm here.
Hey neighbor!
What side of town are you on?
I just took a look at your post history. Nice growth over time you've shared on the gauntlet race thread.

I'm originally from Indiana and go back to visit every year, normally in the summer. I'd love to meetup sometime or go to a camp.
