Title: Anyone in Hamilton Ontario?
Post by: thriftyc on May 17, 2015, 07:21:46 AM
Hi all,

From the Hammer the original Hometown of MMM himself!.

A great city for the Mustachian lifestyle and getting  better all the time. (Bike culture increasing, bike infrastructure, lower cost real estate etc)  Anyone else from the Hammer?

We're just outside of Hamilton, in Niagara.

Just moved to the Greater Hammertown area from the GTA.. :o)       Really enjoying it so far.     Luckily also moved
my job nearby so the commute is great.      (Can't walk to work anymore but at under 20 minutes I'm still happy with it).

Was going to FIRE this year but do to family health issues I am delaying it and starting September I hope to go more to a FI-semiRE scenario.

Cheers.

Thanks !   Seems like a place with a lot of frugal potential.  Certainly noticed a price difference already compared to the GTA.  Got any good local tips ?

West Hamilton. One car family. One person works from home; one person walks to work.
Thankfully there are lots of opportunities for free or low cost recreation in Hamilton, including hiking the escarpment and rail trails.

This might be of interest to anyone in/near Hammertown....

The Hamilton Tool Library

- I've got a few winter projects I'm thinking about and this might be a way to get them done without spending large amounts of money on one time or seldom used power tools.

Hamilton Tool Library is awesome.

For things to do - the library system is excellent, lots of nature trails, waterfront park, Art crawl on James.  Hamilton is becoming more and more bike friendly as well.  A great place to FIRE.....

I'm in Oakville but looking to move to Hamilton once I'm FIRE. Love what the city is doing with urban development and city building.

I'm also looking to organize a PopUp Business School event in Hamilton to help folks start their own business with little or no money.

I'm just outside of Hamilton in Oakville but looking at moving to the Hammer.

I'm also looking at organizing the first ever PopUp Business School event in Hamilton. MMM recently hosted first US one at his new HQ in Longmont.
