Rollover 401k advice
« on: August 15, 2017, 03:43:52 PM »
I've recently retired and have requested to rollover my 401k. I've opened a vanguard account trying to decicde on the asset allocation. I won't be withdrawing any funds from this account for about 10-15 years. But also may not be depositing any additional funds. I'm 54 and am concerned with an upcoming correction in the market I'm nervous to put it in the total stock market fund. Was thinking to put 70% bonds 30% stocks since I won't be depositing any additional funds. Once we have a correction then change it to 70%stocks, 30% bonds. I also have a pension fund that I will leave until we have a correction then take it out to purchase total stock fund. Right now it is safe.
This was not my original plan it was to just move both accounts to Vanguard total stock market fund. But this has been such a crazy year and it is still unpredictable. We are moving next year to a LCOL area from a HCOL area.
Thoughts on this investment plan?

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
