What 1 Fidelity fund to invest in?
« on: August 27, 2016, 12:00:03 AM »
I opened a Fidelity account to get the 2% cash back Visa card. This means I have $2,500 + about $300 per year to invest in Fidelity. What would you choose? Ideally something done best at Fidelity, if such a thing exists. It will be going to a taxable account (10-15% marginal tax rate for a few more years), no specific objective.

Off the top of my head, some options are:
FidelityŽ Four-in-One Index Fund (FFNOX - 0.11% ER) (48% S&P500, 12% extended market, 25% total international, 15% total bond)
iShares MSCI Frontier100 ETF (FM - 0.79% ER) (frontier markets may not be needed, but FM may be the best choice for them, and this would give me about market weight because they are excluded from most indexes)
iShares MSCI Global Gold Miners ETF (RING - 0.39% ER) (this is may be the best gold miner ETF, and probably good in a taxable account, but the last thing I need is a gold miner fund)

Typical Boring Options That Fidelity Does Not Do Best But May Be The Best Choice Anyhow:
FidelityŽ Total Market Index Fund - Investor Class (FSTMX - 0.09% ER) (duh)
ISHARES CORE S&P TOTAL U.S. STOCK MARKET ETF (ITOT - 0.03% ER) (duh)
Any of the various Fido and Ishares international or partial market index funds

Others?

FSTMX.  Boring is good.  If this fits your desired Asset allocation.
