Thanks for all the replies. I will try to add some context.
I basically started over about 5 years ago with $0 so I get that I am way behind where I should be. I have a Fidelity 401K through work, about $40K in it. I contribute 10% of my pay into it, company matches 50% of 3%. That is in FID 500 Index. I have about another $10K in saving that I know I need to move somewhere else since it is not doing anything for me.
My monthly outgo is about $2,500. The major expense is rent, $1,2500 a month. Other than I have no debt, just the normal utilities and food. I could probably live a little cheaper if I tried. I have worked from home for almost the entire time I have had this job, but they are requiring us to go to the office 3 days a week now. It is about 12 miles away, 15 minutes. The job is stable, little to no chance of losing it, but my yearly raise was only 2%. There is some chance of advancement and more money.
I realize I am behind where I should be financially, I had $0 in the back 6 years ago, trying to build up now. I don't really care about an extravagant trip or anything like that, I did enough of that when I was married.
Not sure if this is pertinent to anything but my health is good. I went from 6'4" and 270 lbs to 187 lbs now about 2 years ago. I thought about 30 years of being fat was enough. No health issues at all.
I think that is everything.
Thanks
