Where to invest?
« on: December 26, 2017, 11:55:54 AM »
31, married filing jointly. Pretty new to actually thinking about where to put investments.

Right now I have:
Vanguard Mid-Cap Value Index Fund ETF Shares ~9k
Vanguard Total Stock Market Index Fund ETF Shares ~9k
Fidelity® Total Market Index Fund Premium Class (FSTVX) ~18k

This month I am putting in an extra 5k to my SIMPLE. Where should I put it? I'm wondering if I need some international diversification? For example,
Vanguard Total International Stock Index Fund Investor Share?

Any thoughts appreciated!

If you can justify why you have 25% mid cap, 25% vanguard total stock and 50% fidelity total stock then you should put all new money in at those percentages.

If you don’t know why you have that allocation. You need start from zero. Come up with an allocation that suits your risk tolerance and then put all new money in at the new percent allocation you decide suits you. Simple.

I would start here.

https://www.bogleheads.org/wiki/Getting_started

Then head over to the Investing Start up kit linked.

That will help answer why you have three different funds of the same asset class.
