When to invest small lump sum
« on: August 07, 2019, 09:32:15 AM »
If you had ~10k in cash you'd been meaning to invest, would you wait a few days to see what the market does, or invest today?

Also, would you choose 100% VTSAX?

Personally, I'd stick it in a HISA until we see a serious market crash, like 15-20% or more.  The last couple days is nothing.

Also depends on your time horizon.  If you are in it for 10+ years then probably no problem investing it today.  Personally I think w will see a crash in the next 12-18 months though.

If you are saving for less than 5 years, keep it out of stocks.  Otherwise, follow the proverb:

"The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now."
