What to do with an old 401k????
« on: June 27, 2017, 12:45:36 PM »
Ok, so a question for the masses.

I just found out that i have a 401k from a company i worked at a damn long time ago.. I was not there very long, but apparently i had put money in the account that i do not even remember.. Anyways, its about 15k right now..

I dont want to leave it where it is, because i just wont look at it etc.

Should i roll this to a new 401k via vanguard? or put it with my existing 401k through fidelity...

Just not sure where to put it, right now im split on my investments between Vanguard VTSAX (all after tax) and my taxable accounts are company sponsored via Fidelity.

Thanks

Tex

Look at your investment options with your current 401k compared to what you could invest in an IRA with Vanguard.

Vanguard has some options that have historically beaten VTSAX, so you might consider that.  You can also trade their ETFs for free within your IRA if that is of interest to you.
