Title: What book do you recommend on bonds for a beginner?
Post by: TwistedEther on September 26, 2018, 11:10:48 PM
Would love a favor from anyone knowledgeable. I short-listed two books based on reviews, but cannot decide which one to go for.  I am totally new to bonds. So, easy to understand language would be important.

The two books are:
1. "Bond book" by Annette Thau (https://www.amazon.com/Bond-Book-Third-Everything-Treasuries-ebook/dp/B0046LV2FG/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1538024219&sr=8-2&keywords=bond+book)

2. "Investing in Bonds for dummies" by Russell Wild ("https://www.amazon.com/Investing-Bonds-Dummies-Russell-Wild-ebook/dp/B012X5ZP9A/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8")

What would you recommend?  Is there some other resource you would like me to point to?

Bogleheads wiki is a good place to start. You don’t need to understand much about bonds, to invest in them. Vanguard total bond index is almost never a bad choice. Unless in a taxable account and you’re in a higher tax bracket. Then tax exempt bond index or intermediate term tax exempt bond fund.
