Title: Welcome home, my little green workers
Post by: ysette9 on November 13, 2018, 12:15:23 PM
My 401(k) just rolled over from my former employer’s plan to my new plan with Vanguard. I recently moved my Roth IRA as well, so pretty much all of my investments (save my “play money” little investment account) are with Vanguard. It feels good to have it all someplace I can trust.

Woohoo!  My employer switched administrators recently.  I am waiting for the new web site to show my account.  The old site is no longer available.  Ugh!!

I am trying to be patient.  I know it doesn't really matter..

At least your money is still in the market.
It was uncomfortable during the two weeks it took to make the actual rollover happen while dead-tree checks were mailed hither and yon. What a ridiculous process for loving money around.

God damn Tapatalk. This app sucks.

Thanks for the heads up. I saw it multiple times when I was scrolling but since Tapatalk sometimes just does that for threads that are only actually posted once, i didn’t think much of it.

I’m currently waiting on my American Funds check so that I can stick it into Schwab with the rest of my “employees” now that I’ve changed jobs.

I agree on having everything in one place. It makes life so much easier! And my tIRA options are much cheaper than the ones offered by my old job, so that move needed to happen anyway.

Speaking of American funds...  The salesman for our new 401k company was touting American funds.  They are wonderful, the best, etc.  I am sure most employees will end up with American funds due to that and the majority of the available funds are American.  Thanks to MMM resources and related, I dug deeper and found the 3 VG options.

The American funds are not terrible, I suppose, but the expenses are more than the VG options.

@katsiki — that’s what I found, too. I put mine in the VG funds available, but American Funds fees themselves were a lot higher than regular vanguard fees.

I wish that I had the time and wherewithal to put together a PowerPoint or PDF for my employer to explain why lower fees are super important and why we should use Vanguard or Schwab directly for our 401(k)s. Alack and alas.
