There are many threads about whether dividend stocks have higher gains.

If VYM is in a taxable account, the dividends are tax inefficient. Otherwise, you're betting on value stocks (but ones that aren't doing as well as VTV).

The important thing to note is that, in accounting terms, a dividend reduces the company value. It's a wash. The stock price is also adjusted (you'll see this more starkly with options prices).

I see it the same way as it's a wash, and Warren Buffet does not do dividends for berkshire Hathaway as he sees it's better to reinvest.
