Title: VTI vs IVV ??
Post by: Rmt on April 17, 2015, 11:39:11 PM
Hi,

Just realized that some of our brokerage accounts don't have free VTI trading, but does offer IVV.
Any significant difference?
If so, is it worth moving accounts to one that allows me to purchase VTI for free?

Thanks!

these are basically the same thing. VTI is slightly cheaper with a 0.05% cost ratio than IVV's 0.07%. If you want to be super dilligent, figure out how many trades you're going to make a year (including monthly purchases and dividend reinvestments), and see if that costs more than .02% of assets. most likely, the difference isnt that big, and you'll be fine going either way.

thanks pmm! for the quick breakdown... so basically for every $10K it would only cost $2 difference per year ?

From a management fee only perspective, yup!
