I am looking for a balanced Vanguard (buy it and forget it) fund and I am down to 2 options at this point. VASGX looks attractive to me because of its aggressive allocation and I like the 80-20 allocation. However, its returns are not that great. VWELX on the other hand has given good historical returns but is a bit conservative in allocation. I am not sure which one to select. Some suggestions might help.

Those 2 funds have different objectives and different expense ratios. What are your goals, time horizon, and accounts you're using?
Look into VTTSX.

I am looking for FI in next 10 years. Also I would be investing in a taxable account.

No IRA or 401k?

Generally the Vanguard Target Retirement Fund that corresponds to the year where you're about 65 is a good "set it and forget it" balanced fund. It starts out more aggressive and then gets more conservative as you age. It's more conservative than I plan to be, but if you insist on only having 1 fund and never rebalancing, then it's a good option.

Im a big fan of vwelx and vwinx for balanced funds.
