Hey guys,

Total newbie question, I'm sure, but I can't seem to find a definitive answer for it ;) I'm living in France, but working in Switzerland (my salary is paid in CHF and my main bank accounts are in CHF as well, though I have a couple of accounts in EUR in Portugal and France). I'm considering getting into in ETFs and would like to invest in the Vanguard S&P 500 index fund, for which I've opened an account in Swissquote.

I understand I can buy either VOO (in USD, traded in NYSE) or VUSA (traded in SIX in CHF or in EUR in Euronext). From what I've been reading it doesn't make much sense to buy VOO in my case, but for VUSA is there a difference in buying in CHF or EUR? The EUR market seems to have much more liquidity than buying in CHF which would be good when selling, but my Swissquote account is in CHF, so will I incur in FX fees when buying in EUR? Also, does the fact that I pay taxes in France rather than Switzerland make a difference?

Thanks!

You will find most of the answer you are looking for in the sticky thread there!
