Title: Vanguard life strategy 100% equity
Post by: Jamese20 on September 24, 2016, 12:19:50 AM
Hi guys

Just wondering if anyone else has started investing in this like me at all?  Considering the market hasn't been amazing over the last decade or so this index has doubled its value almost since being available to invest in!

I like it,  it's seems a basic investment portfolio with rebalancing and a nice AA of equities across the globe

If only I started 5 years ago!!!

I have read a lot on the risk of 100% stocks on these forums and I do feel some are over analysing it all and almost feels like a rehashed version of trying to predict future markets when you look at the basic messages of it all!

For me 20% of my salary is already being put into a tax free pension pot so if I assume to retire at 45 I will have £400k fi pot with another 400k roughly pension pot assuming the average returns are still there to call upon when I am 55

This seems to me like a very healthy safety margin so whether my first pot has 50% success rate it don't really matter as I have a big reserve waiting in 10 years time to call. Upon?

Unless I am seriously missing something?

The lifestrategy funds are a great holding for an ultra simple 1 fund portfolio and you will be unlikely to do any better with any other strategy.

Keep buying over time, when it's up and when it's down.  Then in 20 years sit back and enjoy!

Ls100 sounds like a good choice for you.

Thanks for your insight I am glad I appear to have made the right call

Does anyone know how this fund has seemed to outperform the general market over the last 5 years?

VLS is made up of index ETFs so it will just track those markets minus its fee.  It will neither outperform or underperform
