Talk to me like a 5 yr old....
I finally moved an old Oakmark IRA (OAKBX) to my newly opened vanguard account but now I'm not certain how to convert that old fund to the VTSAX fund.
There's $5k sitting there in my account.... I'm not sure of the process now...
Can anyone tell me what the next step is.?
Thanks

Sell then buy.

Thanks Walkwalk.....

I don't have a Vanguard account anymore, but I think there's an exchange option so they'll sell one fund and buy the other at today's price. If you sell then buy you'll have a day (at least) in between.

thank you....
Yes they have an "exchange fund" option however when I attempted to use ....it kicked back saying they can only exchange from within the same fund family.....so I ended up "selling" 100% of the oakmark and will revisit tomorrow to see if the funds are available to but the VTSAX.....
Thank you...

Exchange is for vanguard fund to vanguard fund.
