Any advice on Vanguard bonds to add a mix to Vanguard total stock index mutual fund holdings to diversify portfolio?

VBMFX/VBTLX depending on whether you have less/more than $10k to invest in bonds. https://investor.vanguard.com/mutual-funds/profile/VBTLX

It's worth comparing Vanguard Total Bond with Vanguard Tax-Exempt Bond to see which one is best at your tax rate.  If your income reaches into or past the 22% bracket, you might be better off with tax-exempt bonds.

Also, if you have some assets in taxable and some in an IRA/401(k), you might wind up using both the Total Bond fund and Tax-Exempt Bond fund.
