Title: Top Stock Picks in Down Market?
Post by: flyersman on November 02, 2016, 01:31:12 PM
Lets say the market continues to drop next week and we see a bit of discount on Index Funds and Stocks.

If you had 100K to invest what are some stocks you would look to buy?

I have been eyeing up Solar City, Tesla, Nvidia and plopping more into $FSTVX

Why would you buy Tesla or Solar City?

I don't know, but I'm getting damn sick of this market falling this quarter. It's totally messing up my net worth goals for the end of the year!  I wonder what it will do right after the election? Oh well, as least this is good time for me to start my new IRA.

That's why I switched from market goals to savings goals.  Even if the market crashes, if I beat my savings target I'm happy :)

Trying to pick stocks that will go up in a down market is a gamble, in 2008 it looks like biotech and pharma companies did well (http://www.marketfolly.com/2009/01/stocks-that-actually-gained-in-2008.html) but they've been down a fair bit this year.  My plan is to stick with my investment plan, and try to save even more if there's a downturn.
