Where were you in December 2021?  You need to do a retroactive top is in.

S&P up 3% today?  Holy smokes, I thought the top was in!!!!!!

The fed raised rates 0.5%, which makes a recession more likely, which makes it more likely the fed will cut rates, which makes stocks more valuable, which means a recession less likely, which makes it more likely the fed will raise rates, which makes a recession more likely .....

Some people think that the market went up because they ruled out any 0.75% rises.

I don't get this panicking over increasing rates. If any business can't survive because it costs 1/2 percent more to borrow money then it doesn't deserve to stay in business anyway!

I think we have a labor organizer here.

Is the red pill / blue pill thing a metaphor about following either the Top Is In thread or the Bottom Is In thread?

Which is the painful truth and which is the blissful illusion? I need someone from the internet to tell me these things.

As I'm in the withdrawal phase, I don't have much cash, but I'm in.

I did go all in at 20% down in September 2008.   Watching the further drop was painful, but I kept throwing new cash in until I ran out (but still kept 401k DCAing).
Last major buy was February 2009 1 share of BRK.B at $2400, mostly for the shareholder's meeting badge.

Retired now, so it seems to have worked out OK.

Well, I didn't want to talk about it because actually what happened was I took out a 30 year fixed rate mortgage on my house and maxxed out a HELOC on April 1, 2017.  It took 10 days for the funds to settle, which is when I invested into SQQQ.  (Lucky guess, @ChpBstrd!)

Still trying to figure out what to do with my tulip bulb and Beanie Baby collections.

Just embarrassed by all my success and didn't want to top is in.

Check the date of the original post in this thread and compare it with my post above.

(Alternatively, check my journal and any post where I mention my actual AA.  I've been LTBH at least 90% US low-cost index broadly diversified funds since 1987 in actual fact, and currently am at 98/2.)
Oh well, my search for a like minded investor continues - even in joke threads.  I guess enough people dislike ARKK that I can mention one of my inverse ETFs: SARK, which is up +30% or so in the past 5 days.  I joke about the top being in - but I've actually invested in the top being in.

Refresh my memory which lentil preparing prepper cave dwellers post like this:

Nasdaq top is in

On Aug 19 2021, QQQ closed at 362.64 after thorstach's post.  QQQ closed at $291.84 yesterday, or -20% down from his "top is in" comment.  He didn't hit the 52 week high of $408.71, but that prediction is certainly better than the stubborn buy-the-dippers I see on reddit.

With inverse ETFs, the drops are profitable... so I guess you could summarize my investment approach as "the top is still in"

I know a guy who's quite a brilliant software engineer.  Left a FAANG to go work for a couple of crypto startups over the last couple years.  Both startups lost 90+% of their market cap within a year.  With stablecoins proving to be not-so-stable, the whole thing looks more and more like a pyramid scheme.  No assets or revenue to back the "asset".

My first buy point for more S&P 500 is 20% down.. who's with me?

My 401k buy is Friday, which I assume means that the market will be up.

Nailed it!  I always find myself a little pissed off when the market is up on pay day, which is my 401k buy day.  Never fails!

Yup and it never quite made the 20% down so no buy for me... Next week maybe?

I need to look into buying weekly call options for my 401k buy days. But IDK, maybe the market has already priced in my 401k buys.
