100% the case.  Every one of my Friday paydays the market is up. I laugh each time, then down Monday. Are we being fed on without knowing it?

If this were actually true, you could make a nice arbitrage by buying your Friday contribution on Thursday (on margin) and then selling Friday.

I think it's similar to how the weather is beautiful during the work week but rains on the weekend here.

A higher power is just letting us know that we're not in control.

The higher power is the Top, of course

I parked my car in an open parking lot at work one time as a teenager, no trees around, just open parking lot with a bunch of other cars. When I left work my car had about 500 bird poops on it. No one else's car had bird poop on them, just my car. I knew where I stood with the higher power at that moment. Has been about 15-20 years since then and I am still bitter about it.

I guess you would have mentioned it, but most "open" parking lots still have light poles that birds love to sit on.  I never park directly under a parking lot light

Nope, no light poles. Just an empty gravel parking area and a message from God.

Was working with the boss on the road a few years ago and we stopped to grab some fast food and ate in the truck in the middle of an empty parking lot.  This was right near the ocean and a seagull spotted us eating inside the truck and decided to land on the hood to get a closer look and we tried to wave the bird off the truck, but it wouldn’t move, so the boss had the bright idea to throw a fry out out the window onto the pavement to get it off the hood.  Well, that worked, but a thousand more seagulls flew over and covered the whole truck and parking spaces all around the truck.  We had to drive off and eat somewhere else

I think we've understood the top incorrectly.

The top is not a noun, it's a progressive verb.  Or at least it is according to the WSJ today: https://www.wsj.com/articles/bull-market-end-11633129950

Quote
Of course, there is no way of knowing whether the current stock market—which pulled back brutally from record highs in late September, before Friday’s rally to start October—has entered such an extended topping process. But the bull market will someday come to an end, if it hasn’t already, and it’s important to review the characteristics of past tops so that you don’t manage your portfolio on the assumption that you will be able to catch the top in real time.

If a couple percent correction from record highs is "brutal," I'm not sure how to prepare for being progressively topped.

How many US Marshals would escort the Secretary of the Treasury to walk the $1T coin over? Or would it be Secret Service?

Doesn't the Treasury Department have it's own police ever since the Secret Service was re-organized under the Department of Homeland Security?

But I guess the Secret Service still does the security for cabinet members.

It wouldn't matter if someone stole it because it would be one of a kind and obviously stolen if someone ever tried to "cash it in".  Well I guess it would be about $1,000 worth of PT in melt value...  I suppose it would also give claim to someone for being the first Trillionaire.

Yes, if you can find anyone willing to work for Zimbabwean notes. Alternatively you can save it in case there is a power outage during winter and you need some kindling to start a fire.

It is a single note.  Less heat value than the EBay price equivalent in gasoline.

At least the heat value is now rising, thanks to oil prices going up. Your note is appreciating for once!

Some people think so. When you pin down an inflation conspiracy theorist (i.e. those who believe the feds have been under-reporting for years, and actual inflation is like 10% per year) and show them what exactly it would look like if prices increased 7-10% a year for a decade using well-known items with a well-documented price history, and then show what prices actually were in the past, they usually change the subject to talk about shares of stock being "inflated". So if the inflation conspiracy theorists are right, then the value of companies are going up because actually the purchasing power of the dollar is going down. All data about groceries, energy, cars, services, manufactured goods, etc. are anecdotes that can be offset with other anecdotes.

These people are obviously wrong, not because of the data, but because their conclusion would mean the top is not in, when in fact it is.

One time in Grand Cayman I pulled into a parking lot in a busy area every spot was filled except a couple of primo spots right up front. I thought to myself how amazing it was VIP parking right up front….

Came back a few hours later to a car covered in iguana  poop, apparently all of the local were aware that a large group of iguanas lived in the tree so no one parked in that area.

That stuff is hard to get off :(

Funny, if a $1T coin were stolen no one could use it. If you obtained it in a legit manner, no one could give you change for anything and you wouldn't be able to spend it. The only way around that is to mint tens of thousands of them so they could be used......Inflation in a nutshell. I shouldn't post this or the big brains might grab that as an idea...

If Wednesdays are the new Fridays, does that make Thursdays the new Saturdays? Because I could get behind that.
Since May 1, Wednesday is my Friday. Thursday is indeed the new Saturday. Except for college football - that's still on the old Saturday. So I get two Saturdays every week, and I'd recommend you set this up for yourself if at all possible.

I'm retired, so Mondays are just Fridays with lighter traffic everywhere.

Remember, you'd have to alternate with all-time high Wednesdays.  So your weeks would have to be 14 days long.  Which I guess is OK.  #fortnighttopisin

If you make The Top Is In into a drinking game, someone is likely to end up in the hospital.

Closed less than one point from the all-time high yesterday. Market slightly negative so far today. It would indeed appear that top was in...for now.

Take a shot of beer anytime anyone writes the words “top is in” anywhere on the forum.
