Exploring opportunities to convert what remains of my portfolio to canned beans and pirate's treasure.

Good idea to go with lower risk investments than bitcoin.

Apparently you can also trade derivatives on pirate treasure - I’m not sure about puts, but booty calls seem to be very popular these days.

I'm cackling like a witch right now and sending this joke to all my finance-minded friends. You win the internet.
I've spent the last couple days wanting to actually punch people in the face. I needed this.

S&P down 0.0011%. If it keeps up like this in a year only 99.7% of my portfolio will be left.. When will this horror end?

My condolences on your portfolio. You must be down several dollars after yesterday’s bloodbath.

Yes I am down literally multiple dollars. Exploring opportunities to convert what remains of my portfolio to canned beans and pirate's treasure.

Do you convert it to treasure first and then give it to a pirate for safe keeping? How exactly does this transaction happen? Do you need to know a pirate ahead of time?

I read somewhere that large institutional investors tend to trade in the last 30 minutes or so if each day because that's when there is the most liquidity (because that's when large institutional investors tend to trade, so it's a bit circular but it works).

Whenever we get a day where the market is relatively stable all day and then shoots up or down right before close I interpret it, rightly or wrongly, as institutional investors having a very different view of the market from the day traders, HFTs, and market makers.

You're right of course. But it still feels like being up by 4 in the bottom of the ninth and losing anyway.

What... happened?

I remember in the olden days before the Interwebs, when stock market commentators would talk about current stock market movements in terms of how this month compared to the past few years or how this year compared to the past few decades.

Then we went to talking about how this day compared to this month or certain days earlier in the year.

Now we're trying to analyze what happened to the market in half an hour.  On a drop that was maybe a third of a percentage point or so.

Seems weird to me, and honestly a bit unhealthy.  The market bounces around each day, and a third of a percentage point one way or the other doesn't really need much of an explanation to me.  It hit a high of 48 today in my city - why not 52 or 47?  Eh, it's not 87 degrees out, and high 40's low 50's is about normal for the latter part of November.

Lol, a guess. All time equity highs, rock bottom low interest rates, and a need for income.

Good news for you, top is in, so you'll just pocket the cash from the premiums and sell again after expiration. Brilliant strategy.

I invested in Raspberry Pi / CanaKit today.

Two rPi 2 Zero W's with cases, power supplies, heat sinks, SDCards, and an OTG USB cable to share between them. Threw in a Pico 'cause I'm a big spender who likes my toys.

Today’s date can be written as 12.02.2021. It can also be written as 2021.12.02. Both of these are palindromes and have rotational symmetry!

This is a secret sign that the top is in.
