What... happened?
I remember in the olden days before the Interwebs, when stock market commentators would talk about current stock market movements in terms of how this month compared to the past few years or how this year compared to the past few decades.
Then we went to talking about how this day compared to this month or certain days earlier in the year.
Now we're trying to analyze what happened to the market in half an hour. On a drop that was maybe a third of a percentage point or so.
Seems weird to me, and honestly a bit unhealthy. The market bounces around each day, and a third of a percentage point one way or the other doesn't really need much of an explanation to me. It hit a high of 48 today in my city - why not 52 or 47? Eh, it's not 87 degrees out, and high 40's low 50's is about normal for the latter part of November.
