They should start calling them "All-time high fridays." Seems like we're hitting one just about every week.

Thank God it's All-Time High Friday!

Though the top is in. So, maybe Oh No It's All-Time High So The Top Is Now In Friday.

We Are Lost and the World As We Know It Is Forever Gone From Our Eyes, Only To Live in Our Memories As the Days of Salad and Glory, Truly These Are the End of Times for Today Is An All Time High Fridays. <-- Although the acronym is a bit of a mouthful so I'm not sure how well it'd work to sell chicken wings and mixed drinks.

The top will be in during May, or June, or some time between 2024 and 2031. I read it here:
https://www.cnbc.com/2021/04/19/when-the-bull-market-will-end-according-to-sp-500-history.html

Apparently you should watch the VIX to know when the top is in. It either breaks down or goes through the roof. I can never remember that part...

My prediction is that the top will be (or is) in sometime before June of 2023 or after May of 2023.

Before we forget it, the acronym is: WALWWKFGFOEOLOMDSGTTAETTATHF.

Although I may have left out some of the less significant words.

My conscious brain hit the panic button and avoided trying to decipher it. My subconscious brain started seeing patterns, though. So far I've come up with "We All Like Wookies Wearing Knickers For Google..." I'm sure once if decipher the rest that will make sense.

My interest in only piqued if the acroym is a palindrome (aka, Top Is In - Thorstache [TIIT]). One simply must have standards when it comes to the Top.

After 4 consecutive "All-time high Fridays", looks like we were short another ATHF by about 5 points today.

The top is in for Berkshire Hathaway

https://www.forexlive.com/news/!/berkshire-hathaways-stock-price-is-too-high-nasdaq-temporarily-suspended-prices-20210505
Really inspires confidence when the nasdaq of all exchanges gets a Y2K type problem like not being able to handle a high stock price. But, that is also a pretty unique and respectable way to hit the Top.

Yeah, after a bit I realized it was just (2^32-1)/10000.  I wonder what the word is on the fix.

That'll still fail.  They just need to use a different datatype to store the value of PRICE+MAXPRICE.

NASDAQ's dirty little secret is out. The entire operation is run on an old 486 machine in a closet running custom software that was abandoned decades ago and everyone is afraid to touch.

Really inspires confidence when the nasdaq of all exchanges gets a Y2K type problem like not being able to handle a high stock price. But, that is also a pretty unique and respectable way to hit the Top.

"The biggest number they can handle is $429,496.7295"  This is so very oddly specific.

4 294 967 295 in binary is 2^(32) − 1 and is written as 11111111111111111111111111111111 in binary. To add one more cent you'd have to use one more bit of memory to store the number than they are currently using.

Yeah, after a bit I realized it was just (2^32-1)/10000.  I wonder what the word is on the fix.

IF(SYMBOL==BRK.A){NEWPRICE=PRICE+MAXPRICE}

That'll still fail.  They just need to use a different datatype to store the value of PRICE+MAXPRICE.

Dynamic typing top is in

I see your point, but I'd like to float the idea that your solution needs a bit more precision.

LOL!

Well played, @dougules. Three jokes in one? On this base, surely witticism top achieved.

I thought you only got two witticisms in binary?

I'd add something here, but I'm not the right type.  Cast stones if you must.

We had a similar problem with Italian Lira around 1990.   There was so much inflation in it that we couldn't hold the correct number in our datatypes.   We added a second field which represented the number of zeroes to add to the number and just ignored the leftover Lira, which simply wasn't worth keeping track of.

I would think the same logic could apply here, once you reach $429,496 per share price you don't need to track to the fourth decimal place. I don't think many would care about a hundredth of a penny during those trades.

NASDAQ's dirty little secret is out. The entire operation is run on an old 486 machine in a closet running custom software that was abandoned decades ago and everyone is afraid to touch.

Meh.  486s are pretty recent.  I've got friends working on some nuclear plants who had to learn '60s era Fortran.

Top will never be in! It was 'in' about 10000 times since the great depression.

I know someone who believes it and has an insane amount of cash literally buried and has added to it for like 15 yrs as it sits in the dirt losing money FYI his top was in and just keeps going down and down and down

Wasn't this the entire basis of the Office Space skimming scheme?
