But how could thorstach be wrong?! Again?!

Maybe instead of calling the GOAT MOAT, he meant to call the Greatest of All Time, Finally Usurping the Current King, Equity Rally.
I bet thorstach has that acronym tattooed across his back.

"When the Top was first built, there was a man born inside who had the ability to change whatever he wanted, to remake the Top as he saw fit. It was he who freed the first of us, taught us the truth - As long as the Top exists, the human race will never be free. After he died, the Oracle prophesied his return and that his coming would hail the destruction of the Top, end the war, bring freedom to our people. That is why there are those who have spent our entire lives searching the Top looking for him."

There once was a GOAT they called Billy
Whose swimming style was very silly
He jumped in a MOAT
But his top didn't float
So the only thing dry was his leg

Not sure, but the words from an old song have been wandering into my brain.  How do they go?

"Hike up your skirt a little more, and show the Top to me!"

I think that's how the hemline index works.

Sol's departure was not yet priced into the markets.  Forward looking guidance is tanking.  VIX above 11.  Fear is back.

As they were in 2007. The market is forward looking, so today's earnings are priced in and not relevant.

I do not know enough about the US market to comment on forward earnings, but here in Australia it has turned very much into a stock specific market (more so than usual). The rising tide is not lifting all boats in any sense.

Do not try and predict the top, for that is impossible.  Instead, realize the obviousness of the truth.
What truth?   There is no top.

I think that Sol knows that the market is bound to 'crash' sooner rather than later and is prepared.  Anyone following the 4% SWR thread is left a little undefended when they say that this market reflects anything that has happened in the past.  We are now in uncharted (upside) territory - https://money.cnn.com/2018/08/22/investing/bull-market-longest-stocks/index.html

No thoughts from me, I'm happy if it doubles again from here and I'm not too sad if it goes down 50%.  Life is frickin' good right now being within the parameters I expect :)
