I think this might be it!

I hope so. Would be about perfect timing for me and my projected fire dates to buy cheaper over the next few years before we 🔥

Yeah, it would actually be pretty great for me if we had a crash.

I'm not too excited or worried either way, my only concern is that Trump wouldn't handle a market crash well and could pull some stunts that do lasting damage

I would worry; Trump will focus on other things besides the SP once it starts going down.

Missed the top, it's never coming back. Can't believe it. Luckily still have a chance to sell all before it drops to 0.

I remember visiting my Parents back in the UK in about 2010 or so and the Dow had a shock drop of about 500 points. My Dad said.. "why don't you pull all your money out now before you have nothing left?"

Needless to say that didn't happen..:)

If the Senate votes against the tax overhaul (with the individual mandate repeal I sure hope they do) then the top may very well be in.

If I keep saying the top is in I know I'm likely to be wrong and it will keep going up..:)

Nope.  Most of the time the TSX is pretty tightly correlated with the SP500.  NOt always, but very often
It's pretty much the top here, too, with an all-time high about a week ago.  For now.  Top is in?

Is that when it's denominated in CAD or USD?  Or in other words, does the TSX skyrocket in Canadian dollars when the USD goes way up?

David Swensen believes market valuations are high, consequently Yale has 32% of its endowment in cash/fixed income 1 year long treasuries. This 32% is up from 15% in 2008/2009 where liquidity was used to buy equities.

The top is in whenever the market participants decide it's in.  The index price is set by buyers and sellers, right?

So this looks like a Carl Icahn-style power play, an attempt to move the market for personal profit.  Dave Swenson has no idea how high the market can go, but he's betting that it will go down and then he's telling everyone who will listen that it will go down, in an attempt to MAKE it go down.  All he has to do is convince enough people that he is right, and he becomes right.  It's classic market manipulation, the opposite of the old pump-and-dump con.  "Trash and cash", maybe?

Screw that guy.  And Carl Icahn, too, while we're at it.

Don't forget thorstach, he hasn't hinted at what he has done with his own money, so i am forced to assume he also already sold out of the market and is spreading the fear in hopes that the market drops, unless we hear otherwise from him of course

Only 32% is in cash.  What's the other 68% in, equities?  Sounds like he's trying to convince people the top is in, but maybe he only believes that 32%.

I will let you know when I dive in 100% equities. That will be a sure sign of a market top.  At the moment I have been scaling back to 25 - 30% equities, but I am 64 years old and a 50% drop in equities would hurt me far more than a 50% rise will help.

I'm two decades younger than you, TreeTired. Everyone can use my bond sale this month as an indicator so you don't have to pump up your risk.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
