It seems the economist did not get the memo about real interest rates hitting +2.25% and no longer being "ultra-loose".

The economist has contradicted the latest from @thorstach and says:

"This thing has gotta blow. It's showing signs of topping here,"

Thus, this person is wrong on two fronts. 1) being unaware of current conditions, and 2) going against someone who has been right about continual tops being in for several years now.

You are doing it all wrong. You are supposed to say there is a 68% chance of a 30% drop, because of certain very specific and obscure factors. If the drop happens you are right because of your brilliant insight. If the drop doesn’t happen, it’s because the probability was only 68%.

I am always 100% serious when I make predictions and never joke about the top being in.

Yep, I’m going to second everything above, as someone who isn’t a high earner working a blue collar job, I’m pretty sure my (almost exclusively broke) coworkers would have a fucking heart attack if they knew I could buy a couple brand new Teslas in cash with what my portfolio gained in the last 12 months. Hell, it just about gave me a heart attack when I compared numbers.

Investors are confident the Federal Reserve will be lowering interest rates by the end of its September meeting.

As of Tuesday morning, markets were pricing in a 100% chance of an interest rate cut in September, per the CME FedWatch Tool, up from a 70% chance a month ago.

The increased confidence comes after a better-than-expected June inflation reading combined with signs of further cooling in the labor market. In sum, economists and investors alike have taken the data to mean the Fed will begin cutting interest rates soon as inflation falls closer to the Fed’s 2% target.
