VTWAX vs VTSAX (60%) + VTIAX (40%)?
« on: January 18, 2022, 06:36:41 PM »
I like the idea of investing in the whole world so I am currently around 60% VTSAX and around 40% VTIAX.  For the sake of simplicity I am considering a move into VTWAX, which has been much the same 60/40 breakdown.

If I’m looking for simplicity, not having to rebalance myself, etc… what are the reasons not to go into the single fund?

This is for my retirement accounts (401k and Roth).

Thank you! :)

The only one that comes to mind for retirement accounts is the expense ratio.  It's about 2.4x for VTWAX compared to the blend at 10 basis points, but that's still quite low so it's up to you if the convenience of not rebalancing is worth it.

Yes aside from the expense ratio it appears to be pretty much the same thing.  I guess the lingering thought in my mind is what exactly is included in the 60% US and 40% international.  I would think VTWAX would be a "fund of funds" (60% VTSAX and 40% VTIAX) but that isn't the case with this one.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
