Expat - portfolio advice please!
« on: February 05, 2017, 06:12:15 AM »
Hi,
I'm a UK expat currently in Switzerland, most likely to retire in Japan (it's a long story). But final retirement is not clear. I am likely to move from Switzerland on my next assignment. Next destination is not yet known. I have no 'home country' as such when it comes to portfolio construction. I think it makes most sense to keep it global (with a slight US tilt?) and then when I have a clearer view of retirement location start to revise the portfolio accordingly.
I would like a 60:40 stock/bond split.
I came up with the below portfolio and would like your feedback on:

1.Any comments on bond ETF choices for the portfolio?
2.Any thoughts on accumulating ETF alternatives that I could use for simplicity? Accumulating ETFs would likely make future taxation issues a little easier. I list potentials to my preferred core equity ETF (VWRD) below.
3. Is USD or GBP ETF version best given my globetrotting life?

Potential portfolio:

Stocks
Vanguard FTSE All-World UCITS ETF USD (Dist) VWRD - (0.25%) 40%
SPDRŽ MSCI World Small Cap ETF USD (Acc) WDSC (0.45%) 10%
SPDRŽ Dow Jones Global Real Estate ETF USD (Dist) GLRE (0.4%) 10%

Bonds
iShares $ TIPS UCITS ETF USD (Acc) | IDTP (0.25%) 15%
iShares $ Treasury Bond 3-7yr UCITS ETF USD (Acc) (USD) | CBU7 (0.2%) 15%

Potential accumulating equity ETFs which I have access to which in combination could replace VWRD:
iShares MSCI ACWI USD Acc (USD) ISAC
iShares Core MSCI World USD Acc (USD) IWDA
iShares Core MSCI EM IMI USD Acc (USD) EIMI
iShares MSCI Emerging Markets (Acc) (USD) IEMA
SPDRŽ MSCI ACWI ETF (USD) ACWD
SPDRŽ MSCI ACWI IMI ETF (USD) IMID
SPDRŽ MSCI Emerging Markets ETF (USD) EMRD
