any paperwork required for redeeming ibonds
« on: June 23, 2022, 12:36:29 PM »
In the process of buying some ibonds for minor children.  Their subaccounts were able to be created online with no paperwork.  But when I wanted to add their checking accounts it wouldn't let me do that online like it did when I linked my checking account.... so the paperwork is in the mail to get their accounts linked.  It required going to the bank and getting an officer of the bank to confirm my identity (they had to sign similar to a notary).  There was an option to include the medallion stamp of the bank.

That same paperwork I sent in for adding a new account had a section (that I didn't need) for redeeming bonds.

I'm just curious who here has redeemed iBonds on behalf of minors.  Can those be redeemed AND the funds transferred back to the linked checking account online or does it require paperwork to be mailed.

I have the same question about redeeming my (bonds in my name) iBonds and transferring out funds to my checking account.  I have never redeemed any.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
