As of this week, I no longer own any individual stocks. 10 years ago, I did quite a bit of active trading - but really, it wasn't worth it. I held onto one longshot (CRAY) I had bought cheap - but over the weekend, I decided it was time to consolidate everything to Vanguard and set the wheels in motion to transfer everything over. Monday, I sold off the longshot*, and everything will be indexes.
I just no longer have the time or inclination to properly evaluate individual stocks. Therefore I don't really have business leaving money in individual stocks.
*Yes, it did pay off well enough. Almost quadrupled in value. But it could have also gone to zero.
