Short Term Investing Options

I have around $80k in cash that is sitting idly that I don't need to use for about a year or two. Other than CDs are there any other short term investments you would recommend? And if you do recommend a CD what is the best bank to go with?

Too short a time period to invest it, so yes, CD or savings account. I personally use Ally Bank for their 1% savings, no idea about good CD rates.

Lake Michigan Credit Union
has a 3% checking account (up to $15k) with minimal requirements.

You could go with Vanguard's Total Bond Market ETF (BND).

I agree with Frankie's girl that 1 year is too short a time horizon for anything other than CDs (or a rewards checking account, as suggested by Jamaica). Even bonds can lose value, and if you need the money in a year's time, well... you can't afford to gamble it.

Deposit accounts is a good resource for the latest banking deals.
