Title: selling fractional etf shares on Vanguard
Post by: GUNDERSON on March 25, 2020, 11:01:26 AM
This is surely a dumb question, but if you try to sell an ETF, it will ask for a number of shares you want to sell. You can only enter whole numbers, but usually, because of dividends, the total value is not a whole number, and therefore when I select specific shares to sell, Vanguard won't let me execute the trade, saying it's either too few or too many shares. What's the workaround here? Thanks.

Put in the the whole number.  They will sell the fractional share automatically once it is the only thing left.

The issue is that I don't want to sell my whole position, just the lots with losses. Thanks!
